You can be more comfortable with English, but calling Hindi "downmarket" and "uncool" is out of order. Especially considering it IS the language of the films he produces.

It is actually funny, because these same celebrities make so many grammar mistakes when speaking English as well. Ek bhi zubaan dhang se nahi bol sakte.

That is because Desis are mad after English fluency ...fir bhaad mei jaaye Grammar. And this is coming from an English teacher so please believe me 😆

Which is what my initial point was - that was a young, fat KJo talking

Cuz I've seen these celebrity people speaking comfortably in Hindi during their interactions with media personnel (yes, I keep watching their random videos on Insta 😆) Moreover, the way they speak English exhibits flaunting and showing-off. May be it could only be me who thinks this way but that is what I think.

And no my friend, just because we both are at Hindi forum and still writing in English, we are not flaunting (atleast I can say about me) 😅 but because we both don't know whether we know Hindi so well as English.

Main aapki pehli baat se sehmat nahi hoon - mujhe nahi lagta ki yeh sitare Hindi ko neecha dikha rahe hotay hain jab woh angreji mein baat karte hain

Agar aap unka baat karne ka tareeka note karenge toh aapko samajh aa jaayega ke wo angrezi mei baat kar ke garv mehsoos karte hain aur agar aisa nahi hai toh fir Hindi mei hi baat karein? Haan? 😆

Hindi is not our national language. It’s one of the official languages. The rest may be true 😆

I am finding this a promotional tactic to sell his book. You imagine that some celebrities are at loggerheads with each other, but behind the scenes they are playing up the “negative publicity is also publicity” game.

one cannot ignore the fact that knowing English is a status symbol in India. People from economically weaker class aspire and work hard to send their children to english medium schools, it is seen as a means of social and economic mobility, jobs etc.

kangana has repeatedly said her accent was mocked and I am sure lot of people face it.

This is especially cruel and pathetic given that they live off this language

If my job needed a skill I will very well learn it and respect it.

English is global language

I am trying to learn it so I can discuss with people in English

It takes me more time to form sentences in English so I prefer writing in Hindi while I am in a discussion as I can't think so fast in English

Karan and his army have always mocked Hindi speaking people who can't speak in English or don't have the same accent as them

Language is language

Its not your status symbol

Modi is Prime Minister and he can't speak in English

I thought the same thing when watching Monsoon Wedding, that KJo must have identified with that boy who loved dancing and deemed effeminate. Probably why he cast him in K3G and other members of the cast in KHNH.
