SRK's new Simran

After being kept under wraps for months Sharma's identity has finally been unveiled to the public. YRF head honcho Yash Chopra confirmed that the model from Bangalore would be a part of the film.

"We were looking first and foremost for someone who could truly embody the spirit of small town Punjab and we know we have found her in Anushka. And while she has no previous acting experience, we have seen that unique spark in her that makes us confident that she will be a standout even opposite Shah Rukh," says Yash Chopra.

At 5' 9", Anushka was Wendell Rodrick's finale model at the last Fashion Week and has followed it up with campaigns for Silk & Shine, Whisper and Fiat Palio. At the moment she is studying for a degree in economics.

With Adi Chopra taking position in the director's seat after a gap of eight years, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is one of the most awaited films of 2008. SRK is expected to play a senior NRI recluse who returns to his hometown of Punjab from London and finds himself romantically involved with a 16 year old village belle which will be played by Anushka Sharma.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will go on the floors on May 16th and will hit theatres worldwide on December 12th.
