Khan is the most common Muslim surname right? So they wanted a first name with K too.

I already listed a bunch of names in my upar wala post. They could've gone for any of those.

they need to get out of it, its is getting better but south asia term itself is so generic, when india itself is itself so diverse

when you can say french, mexican, korean and not asian or south american then why this

Kamala is from Sanskrit and I've never heard any non-Hindu keeping that name.

My point is there are so many names starting with K- Kinza, Kafiya, Kainaat, Kashf, Kaneez, Kausar. Why chose one that can cause genuine confusion 😆

As far as I can tell, that seems to be common among south Indian Christians, having a Hindu middle or first name

But never among Muslims though

@bold: Haan this is a very common practice.

One of my closest friends is Christian...so she'd told me when her village converted, they chose to retain their last name but would have Christian first names.

Similarly many chose to keep a Christian last name but a Hindu first name.

Muslims usually have names from Arabic, Turkish I guess...and there are some Irani Parsi names too.

I don't think they wanted to capture the Indian market. It's based on a comic book that was widely popular, written I believe in 2013, by a Pakistani American girl. Marvel needs new characters for their upcoming phases because the original avengers are basically all done barring Thor. They are building towards the next Captain Marvel moving which will be called The Marvels and have Kamala, Carol Denvers, and Monica Rambeu.

I never understood the hype behind Miss Marvel tbh.

Umm not much....they showed the love story of Kamala's great grandparents Aisha and Hasan (an independence activist), how they got married and had a kid, and how they all had to leave their country during partition. Overall Disney glossed over it and presented a sanitized version. And yeah, they completely blamed the Britishers for the partition.😆

Wanda aka Scarlett Witch and Dr Strange are not done yet

They're not the original 6 avengers though. The original avengers were black widow, captain America, iron man, hulk, hawk eye.
