Is Virat Kohli's form major concern?

Virat Kohli's recent bad performance generated a lot of press coverage in the media and heated debate on English news channels.

Over the past week, several former cricketers including Kapil Dev, Ajay Jadeja have remarked that going on his current form, Virat Kohli may not be a certainty in India's T20I line-up. Is it true?

On several previous instances, the same question about Kapil Dev, Sachin, Azaruddin, and Dhoni was brought up for debate.

What is your opinion?

Yes it is. Kohli needs to be dropped from T20 team. And its not that he did bad but the people waiting on the benches are much better. Like hooda. If hooda played yesterday we would have won.

My first question is why everybody is talking only about Virat's form and not Rohit's form? If Virat is not doing good then so is Rohit. May be because Rohit is the captain and none of the present players are good enough to replace him as captain. Likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer are also not doing well but since their age is less they will get chances. Virat has given extraordinary performances at young age, which most of the players haven't, now he is old with bad form, talks are going on to drop him. Even after back to back poor performances Virat's statistics is far better than many players who are in same league. So if Virat has to make place for a in form player, then the other non performing players in T20 should also leave their place. Let them focus on Test and ODI and let the young performers get chance in T20.

Since it is a Virat specific question, I will answer that first.

If someone follows the same process and expect a different outcome, it's not going to happen.

I am not a specialist so, I can't talk about the technique.

Why is Virat failing? Is he not concentrating, not reading the ball well, losing patience or too casual about the game? There has to be a reason. Virat and his coach must find the reason, work on it and practice.

Continuously failing is not good even for the people themselves.

If anything else is there or not, IPL will be there. Virat can fix what is lacking in his game and still can play for IPL few more years.

Just my opinion.

Cheers..

Both Virat and Rohit need to be dropped

But as Rohit is the Captain and India is winning under him irrespective of his performance or what he does, so he can't be removed.

They both are great and their career isn't over but the other new players are doing much better.

Virat needs to Watch What he did vs Aus in 2016 Worldcup at Mohali. That knock has been rated as one of the best T20 knock of the decade. Or more recently the 70 of 29 Vs west Indies in 2019.

He needs constant practice which can't be without domestic cricket. But his Ego is bigger than Mount Everest. Its beyond the level of kohli to play domestic.

Chepu played ranji, bashed hapless 2nd division bowlers and came back to the team. Scored 60+.

And btw Rohit also played Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2018. He wasn't even needed to play or anything.

Rohit playing only because of Captaincy. He is the best captain in India at the moment. He won 19 in a row. And almost 20th. Proven captaincy credentials. Pandya is too raw to be made captain in a world event.

Virat is a no 3 bat. His spot has someone in a prime form in hooda. Better form, intent, strike rate, average. Of course virat has experience but its not working.

Cricket is not a game of stats. Its what you do at the moment. If you want to keep virat for his old statistics which are almost 3 years old, then bring Tendulkar also.

Shreyas and Rishabh should not get anymore chances. Enough. Rishabh has been playing t20is for 5 years now. Not a one impactful knock. Kishan in 1 year has more than him.

Shreyas should be dropped till he fixes the short ball problem.

I think the management must impose the rules and make Indian team players play domestic cricket and rotate players for every two or three series. It will also help the crazy schedule they are following now a days. Or have three different teams for the three different formats of the game.

Cheers..

Statistics do matter in deciding which cricketer has performed better in which soil and conditions. Tendulkar has also seen bad form in his career but he got more chances, more than any other player, before he came back in form, just because of his statistics. Has his statistics not been good, he would have retired nuch earlier. Anyways I am not a Virat fan. My point it is unfair to target only Virat when some other players are not performing well and still in the team. All non performers should be dropped and let the performers given a chance.
