Was Alia shoved down our throats ?

She’s highly average. I m not saying this out of any bias. I am a fan of Kiara Advani from the current lot because she has charm and sex appeal and can also act well. But Alia looks bland; there’s no sex appeal or X factor. I can easily take my eyes off her when she’s onscreen. Then why is she called the best actress of this generation?

Has she been shoved down our throats by Kjo and the gang?

Kjo is powerful and, most importantly very media-friendly. He has diligently put Alia in all those best actress questions along with many senior actresses in rapid-fire so that he can create a perception that she has arrived and how!

The general audience does not have the time or intelligence to differentiate between paid/crafted perception vs. accurate perception. I have seen firangi YouTubers buying whatever is discussed on KWK, plus he gave her potential hit films from dharma and made her path easy! Something he does to Kareena, too, to keep her relevant! If you think carefully, Kareena has done only one film post-Taimur, and I’m sure she will be included in the best actress list in the upcoming KWK episodes.

No I don’t think so. A quick look at filmography of a Tapsee and it will show she actually has had more films released than Alia. So in theory how can Alia be shoved down more ? That just 1 example of a lot of this is incessant whining

Some kind of X factor or sex appeal should definitely be there in a commercial actor or actress . That’s my opinion .

I want to say yes, but then I think of her performance in raazi and udta punjab and realize that she is a director's actor, acche director ke saath acchi actig kar leti hai, and she does choose powerful scripts, atleast better than kiara, which make her challenge herself as an actor.

For audience to love Alia,she needs a Blockbuster film,with songs and dances and content to reach outside metros.

Gully boy remains her highest grosser.

No, she is a good actress... far better than the Tapsees, Deepikas, Katrinas and Kareenas... new gen lot are not even comparable.

Well, just to give you a heads up, your verbiage of the first choice will come under scrutiny because technically we all have the option of not watching her movies.

I do know what you mean though and I agree with it. I think there’s definitely a sense of KJo monopolizing all the good scripts for her, and then marketing her as the best thing since slice bread. There’s been an overselling of “Alia Bhatt, the great talent” over the years. Even within Bollywood KJo curating Alia’s career has been discussed.

Half of the people in BW are being shoved down our throats. Atleast Alia can act, though I agree with you that she doesn't have that glam factor.

It is her film choices to be blamed.She wants to go niche,that is good.But still her characters need to be appealing,there has to be love, yearning, beauty

Look at Darlings..and why is the film named darlings-who are the darlings-never mind.This role can be done by any good actress,even an unknown one.The character doesn't need the appeal or aura of a top heroine.She brings nothing to the table..which someone else can't.Are Jaanu and Kriti and Kiara crying over it? No? then it is a waste.
