re: progressive men?

to be honest, I have no idea what people are referring to and what kind of guidelines or checklist we are looking for. the problem in my mind is that this is a western concept and we are applying to a different cultural mindset. there are bound to be clashes. this means that whatever this 'progressive' man is, he does not exist.

so you are going to have amazing contradictions -- you will have fathers go out of the way (with great effort like working overtime) to educate their daughters but then fret if she isnt' married or if she got divorced. now how is that progressive? you will have men who treat their wives really well but they don't bother to do a joint financial planning or take her input for their retirement; this means after his death, she is left clueless about their financial state -- now how is that progressive? we have men who don't feel threatened by their wife's job success but at the same time, they don't lift a single finger to help out around in the house. laundry, cooking, cleaning -- those are seen as woman's job. how is that progressive?

my point is that a person can display so called progressive thinking in one area and be completely backwards in another. it is a complicated picture and there is no cookie cutter mould or factory for 'progressive' men. he does not exist. instead, you are going to have complex personalities which result in fiery clashes.

thats why women of my mom's generation advise on lines that seem strange to those of us younger -- know when to reel in your fish and when to wait and watch. their advice basically means that you have to know what battles to pick and what to let go, how to negotiate with street smart (basically manipulate the guy to your will by making him fidaa over you) and where to placate to his ego/bossiness (so that you get him to agree on the more important things on your thinking but let him make calls in the less important decisions). my point -- it is complicated. so why would drama characters be any less? 🤷

Yes I do agree that Ushna is not that involved or maybe it’s director’s fault. I also feel compared to him Ushna is more caustic and it’s hard for her. He fell for her badly but she has seen him being horrible to her, ran her over, kicked her out of the car, treat her mother and her badly, kicked her out of the house so in hindsight it makes sense why she would be cautious- once bitten twice shy. She was nice to Romeo as initially he was nice to her and she liked that. We know Shehroz means well she didn’t.

Her opinion started slowly changing after marriage and later on regarding divorce. Ushna did say her mother was unwell and when someone is unwell you sometimes don’t remember. If he felt like that when she said it was her mother matter should have been dropped specially when home is not a hearty place right now.

I think they both a break - it’s too much happening and break will be best. Time to think and reevaluate everything. Shehroz can’t have Ushna in front of him and be rude and then expect her to just forget and forgive. Same way I won’t expect him to just forget and forgive either. That’s why we need a separation. Even Romeo is not bothering me but I do think these two need to have a break.

He showed growth which stopped now. I guess my standards are very high. Ushna was wrong too but she learns from her mistakes but Shehroz doesn’t. He confessed love when he blasted Ushna that she cares for Romeo more than him. Lately let’s say he sees his mother as right but he has also seen his mother can be very wrong and was wrong. He has also seen his mother being very mean - back then he was nice to her and yes he supported Ushna about divorce but he should have listened to his mother now that I look back.

Ushna was wrong and I admitted that too and in fact I was angry when she was flip flopping I don’t justify bad actions. Right now Shehroz is wrong. Ushna should go personal too that’s why I say throw Zunaisha at his face and give him tit for tat. He says women aren’t compared to men she should say who wants competition when men is like you - no thanks.

He did try to be nice and caring even before Naima told him to. He was being nice and flirty to her when he was asking her to come with him to the jeweller. He genuinely wanted to know why she was upset when she was sitting at the doorsteps. Ofcourse how can we forget the bank scene😆. He does try to be nice but ushna never gave in and rightfully so as she didn't had any reason to.

Ushna is very similar to shehroze and she also have blind trust on zainab. She didn't had an ounce of doubt on zainab when she herself is the one that found the jewellery with zainab. We hate on shehroze's blind trust on his mother simply because we know Naima is a naagin. We would have hated on ushna for her blind trust on zainab if we knew zainab actually did hide those jewellery. We also hated zainab for supporting sufiyan after the shooting because we as audience knows he did it. If zainab can believe sufiyan so strongly after everything he said and did then why cannot shehroze trust his own mother after one incident? Naima has always only given him good advices according to him and why in the world will she try to hurt her own son according to him. In that matter ushna did think zainab is a gold digger after getting manipulated. And she again blamed zainab after getting to know about her biological mother. So ushna did the same mistake she did twice. She didn't really learn from her mistakes either.

As girls if we find shehroze not good enough then guys might also not find ushna good enough. She does poke her nose in shehroze's matter and had insulted him when it was not necessary. She did lead on sufi creepy simply because she didnt want to marry shehroze. She never firmly stood against sufi creepy the way she does with shehroze because she somewhat knows shehroze is not harmful. She insulted a guy with a huge ego and entitlement more than once and got away unharmed. If shehroze was someone who was way too deep into his rich and powerful background then he would have gotten back at ushna a long time back. He didn't even try to insult her when she was working at his birthday party. He could have insulted her there to get back at what she said to him at his office. After seeing so many pak and Indian serials i literally thought he would do something to her at that party. He simply let her do her work.

Sultan in deewangi character assassinated the FL for slapping him and made her life a living hell because he claimed to love her. Shamsher terrorized the FLs entire family. Shehroze literally does nothing for a rich spoiled arrogant brat according to pak drama standards😆. Even the nice guy hamza raised his hands twice at someone like hala. She raised her voice only twice and both the times hamza raised his hands
