Sorry for such a somber topic on such a joyous day but I had to ask this as I want ASR to not just celebrate his 200th episode but many many more.

So I live in India but don't watch the show on TV. I watch it first thing in the morning and have especially taken the yearly subscription to watch the show without any ads but do people like me contribute to the TRP and in turn the ultimate fate of any ITV show?

If no then why not? What's the point of releasing the show in advance if it's doesn't contribute to the show and infact hamper the viewership of the allotted slot. The clips and full episodes are posted on SM as soon as the episode is aired so people get to watch without paying anything and they won't have to wait till 8.30 so why not count us hotstar viewers?

I would think you are one of the contributers to online TRP.

I didn't subscribe to watch the show at 8:30 because I feel that if I see online and doesn't see it at 8:30 shows TRP will reduce. It is true that TRP is counted by television viewing but I don't know about online TRP'S and how they contribute

You only contribute to TRP if you watch the show on TV when it is aired on the channel. If you watch on app or internationally you do not contribute. Most forum members watch online and are international viewers so we do not count towards TRP.

Releasing shows in advance is more to the benefit of the online streaming platform than the shows. It promotes subscriptions etc. which is another money making method. Hotstar viewers are counted in online TRP.

Online viewers don't contribute to trp. As a matter of fact,.not all.offline viewers count. Barc has selected some sample audience on whose house a meter is fit. According to that sample, avg is.calculated of whole viewership.

Wahi toh! They should count everyone in. Especially those who watch it on hotstar with a subscription. They only they can judge the true popularity of a show.

Hey! So it's true that TRP is counted only when you watch the show on TV but would like to point something out here

The same production house launched IPKKD3 maybe 1 or 2 years back which went off air but when their lead actress was interviewed with a question so as to point out what could be the reasons for off airing or was it that people didn't like watching your show? The actress gave a very clear and beautiful answer that people were very much interested which was clearly visible by the no of views and downloads of their episodes on Hotstar.

So basically all that hype that Starplus is giving our show currently on RWSP and promoting our Jodi so much is not just based on the social media influence only since almost every show gets that, but also a clear proof that Imlie might have been showing the highest no of downloaded episodes and online engagement on Hotstar (which the PH & channel can see) which in turn is good since that will force the channel to promote the show.

As already pointed out here that most of us viewers here watch the show on Hotstar in the morning than TV that itself means most of us download the episodes on Hotstar and watch it.

Regarding our contribution well this has been a well kept secret of what and how actually we contribute but that does not mean we contribute nothing apart from the popularity otherwise why will they invest so much on Hotstar and make all the episodes which are supposed to be aired in evening available since morning if it is actually a loss? Another example of this is why do you think Gul Khan launched Ashiqana on Hotstar bearing so much expenses that too her 1st web series ( when she has her shows on other channels as well with their own ott platforms) bcs she has enough experience with Starplus and Hotstar that does add to her profit.

I used to watch another show which got shut down due to low TRPs and once it's producer said in a live that online TRPs doesn't matter at all. What only matter is the views on the allotted time slot. Even repeat telecast is of new use. He repeatedly requested not to watch online and just watch at the airtime.
But it's a good point to ponder over that if hits tar didn't matter then why would aashiqana be launched on hotstar
