Do we contribute to TRP - Page 2

I don't think that there is any clear answer as to why a channel keeps or chucks a show... There is trp, online viewership, international viewers, time slots and also costs.. Like a super cheap show may survive depending on how competitive the time slot is.

Coming to offline trps- even is we watch on tv, there is no guarantee that we are contributing to the trp

The data is collected from just 40,000 tv sets which have the installed software.. There are over 21 crore houses in india that have tv and data is collected only from 40000... So your tv might not be the chosen one anyways

It's useless to worry about trps... And the arnab scandal shows that trps can and are manipulated anyways

Wahi toh! They should count everyone in. Especially those who watch it on hotstar with a subscription. They only they can judge the true popularity of a show.

I think the popularity of the show on Hotstar also is considered by the channel. Because 2weeks back I came across a tweet which showed Imlie in 8th position under the popular show category in Hotstar app, while Aashiqana (Gul's new webshow) was in 2nd position following Anupama. Now, through Pooja, I came to know that Imlie has improved it's position to 6th. Probably the effect of RWSP and probably why the channel & PH now is showing interest in our show, along with the increased TRP. 😆

I used to watch another show which got shut down due to low TRPs and once it's producer said in a live that online TRPs doesn't matter at all. What only matter is the views on the allotted time slot. Even repeat telecast is of new use. He repeatedly requested not to watch online and just watch at the airtime.
But it's a good point to ponder over that if hits tar didn't matter then why would aashiqana be launched on hotstar

It is not TV alone, across the country there are dth providers who do not share their data with BARC. Only cable tv subscribers whose set top boxes are close to the metres, catch signals and it is converted to raw data. As of now only 50k metres are installed for a population of 1.3 billion population.

Sony considers online views but they want a min of 0.8 to 1 for high budget shows.

I am curious know whether Ashiqana is already brought by HS or it is on income and exp sharing ratio.

Really the IB industry has been breaking their heads over trps and no ruling govt is able to bring transparency about ratings. Everyone keeps on trying.

Ultimately for the sake of those metre boxes, content gets screwed.

I would rather watch Panchayat on Amazon Prime than Dangal Tv shows.

The rural areas want only those channels which are free, many skip subscriptions.

There is competition from regional shows for ex Imlie and Anupama OG touched 8 .
