Anuj ran from girls wing to boys wing..through out the corridor tears flew from his eyes uncontrollably..Vikram called and ran behind him

He entered in his room and was about to close it when Vikram kept his hand in between

Anuj glared him but Vikram put all of his efforts and opened the door..entered in and closed it

Anuj - mujhe thodi der akela chod de bunty

V - bilkul bhi nahi..tu apna guilt gussa jo bhi hai mujhpe nikal de par mae tujhe akela nahi chodunga

Anuj looked at him teary eyed while Vikram engulfed him in a hug..he patted Anuj's back

V - its ok anuj..teri galati nahi hai aur nahi anupama ki..tujhe apne apko khusur waar thehra ne ki zaroorat nahi hai..aur anu ka dukh mujhse aur devika se bhi nahi dekha ja raha..par humare rone se kuch theek toh nahi hoga na

Anuj came out the hug and held his head frustratingly

A - sab meri hee galati hai na mae anu ko akela chodta aur nahi usse ye sab jhelna padta..wo sahi thi..wo sahi thi..usse khush rehne koyi deta hee nahi..aur jo maine itni koshish ki wo sab bekaar gayi..aj ke baad anu ka mujhpe bharosa karna impossible hojayega

A confused Vikram asked

V - tu kya bole ja raha..bharosa nahi karegi..kuch huwa hai tum dono ke beech jo hum nahi jante

Anuj gulped and nodded negatively
Later he sat on the bed wiping his tears

V - anuj tu itna effect kyun ho raha hai..anu meri dost hai mae uske liye kuch bhi kar sakta hun..I know tu apne apko iss sab ka zimmedar samjhta hai par tu hai nahi

Anuj yelled in frustration

A - hun mae hee zimmedar hun..tu anu ka dost..mae effected hun isiliye nahi ke kyunke mae sirf guilty balke isiliye ke mae usse dard mae nahi dekh sakta..usse nahi dekh sakta aisi halaat mae..I just can't

He threw all of the pillows on the ground..Vikram stood confused and shocked

Vikram thought - kuch toh hai jo mae nahi janta hun..

He asked - kyun wo toh teri kuch nahi lagti

Anuj eyed at him with red eyes & said

A - lagti hai..mera sab kuch..everything

Vikram stood shocked..he held anuj by his shoulder

V - kya..kya bol raha hai tu..teri toh anu se aj tak nahi bani na..ek mauka nahi chodte tum dono ek dusre se ladne ka..tu aj ke incident se pagal toh nahi hogaya

Anuj laughed painfully

A - pagal hee hogaya hun..pagal hogaya hun..agar phele hee anu ko sab bata deta toh aj humare beech ye faasle nahi hota..haq se uske pass hota

He threw the plates which were on the dinning table..Vikram ran and held his hands

V - kya kar raha hai ye ghar nahi hostel hai anuj..koyi jag gaya toh pata nahi kya hoga..

Anuj pushed his hands

A - mere saath kuch bhi ho mujhe koyi farak nahi padta par jo anu ke saath huwa haina uske liye mae apne apko kabhi maaf nahi kar paunga

V - kyun

Anuj punched his hand on the wall and declared

A - BECAUSE I LOVE HER..I LOVE ANUPAMA..I JUST LOVE HER SO MUCH..I LOVE HER BUNTY

saying he turned and hugged vikram crying his heart out..Vikram stood rooted

V - toh wo girl friend jiske baare mae tu humesha Baath karta tha wo?

A - jhoot tha..sirf isiliye taake anu ko ehsaas ho ke kahin na kahin wo mujhse pyaar karti hai..mae uska wahi anuj hun jiske ke saath usne apna bachpan jiya hai..jiski stories ke siwa wo koyi aur stories nahi padti..

Saying he fell on his knees..Vikram knelt before him and asked

V - bachpan se..stories?

Anuj closed his eyes and a small smile formed on his lips

A - haan bachpan se..mae anu ko bachpan se janta hun..

But a loud bang on the door interrupted them..Vikram looked at the plates and teary eyed anuj while opening the door

To his dismay it was the most strict warden of their hostel

Warden - kya toda hai ab tum dono ne

Saying she was about to enter in but Vikram stopped her grinningly

V - wo galati se plate tut gayi

W - kya

Vikram nodded gulping hard

V - par aap jo bolengi wo mae karunga jo bhi punishment ho..

Warden nodded glaring at him

W - 2 minute mae ye saaf karke neeche aao..phir batati hun mae tumhe

Vikram nodded and closed the door..he dropped the broken piece of plate in the dustbin

And walked to anuj with first aid box..he held Anuj's hand and cleaned his wound..and applied the band-aid

Anuj looked up at him

A - I'm sorry..tu yahi reh mae Jake Warden ko dekh lunga..galati meri hai toh punishment bhi mujhe hee milegi

Saying he was about to get up when Vikram held his hand and made him lay on the bed

V - tu yaahan se kahin nahi jayega..and we are not done yet..iss bare mae kal subha Baath karenge..mere peeche agar apne apko phirse koyi takleef pahunchayi toh mujhse bura koyi nahi hoga..infact tu bed se ab uthega tak nahi..tujhe anu ki kasam

Saying he walked out of the room..leaving anuj to sigh..thats when his phone pinged with devika's message

D - anu is fine..wo ache se sogayi hai..tu apna dihaan rakhna

Anuj typed a ' thank you ' and searched a song to calm his nerves..he shuffled his music library and it played in a low volume - khuda ko dikh raha hoga!

Khuda ko dikh raha hoga

Na dil tujhse judaa hoga

Teri taqdeer mein mujhko

Woh ab toh likh raha hoga

The lyrics increased the pain in his heart..he looked at the idol kept on the table & asked

A - kya abhi bhi mae anu ki zindagi ki kitaab ka hissa nahi hun?

Tera hi bas hona chaahoon

Tere dard mein rona chaahoon

Tere dil ke in zakhmo pe

Marham main hona chaahoon

A - mae tumhe akela nahi chodna chahta tha anu..tumhe apni bahoon mae hee rehne dena chahta tha par nahi ruk paya mae tumhare pass

Kar le kabool khudaya mere sajde

Ab toh naseeb mein mere usse likh de ..

A - please kanhaji ab toh anu ko meri kismaat bana dijiye..usse meri class mate nahi balke wahi bachpan ki dost bana dijiye..mera pyaar meri humsafar bana dijiye

Tu phir na soya hoga, shayad phir roya hoga

Aasu meri palkon pe yun hi na aaya hoga

A - bhale hee devika kehde ke tum theek ho anu par mera dil janta hai ke tum theek nahi ho..

His eyes turned teary again

Dena mujhko awaazein

Ya sunn meri fariyadein

Ghere hain mujhko yaadein, bin tere

A small smile played on his lips when he remembered -

A 6 year old girl running around behind the butterfly in the small garden wearing pink frock..hairs caressing her cheeks and she shouting
While trying to hold them

Anu - aree ruko na

A boy of her age stood at the window of 3rd floor gazing at her..he started jumping on stairs and reached the garden

He ran behind her and tapped her shoulder

She turned around to look at the boy in blue t- shirt and jeans smiling at him

She smiled back while he forwarded his hand and she gazed at him confused

Anuj - mujhse dosti karogi?

Anupama smiled

Anu - tum mere dost banna chahte ho

Anuj - kyun mae nahi ban sakta kya

Anu - arre nahi..wo kya hai ne koyi mujhse dosti nahi karta toh..mae thodi shock hogayi thi

She said it cutely in a go while anuj giggled

Anuj - ek Baath bataun..sab na pagal hain..tum kitni cute aur sweet ho..

She held his hand and they shook it

Later anuj pinched her cheeks

The background music brought him out of his thoughts

Likaaya arziyon mein, tujh bin jeena nahin hai

A - bas uss din se lekar aj tak anu..tumhare siwa mere dil mae koyi nahi..haar din mae apne thoughts ke through tumse Baath karta hun..mujhe pata hai tum wo thoughts stories sab padti ho..kal raath jab devika ke birthday ke liye tumhe lene aya tha maine dekha tha phone pe apna account aur kitni baar devika ne bataya hai ke tum siwae mere kisi aur ki kahaani nahi padti ho..bhale hee bachpan ki yaadien kisi wajah se tumhe yaad na ho..par apni nayi yaadon mae bhi kya tumhe meri yaad nahi aati?

Mujh mein ab main kahan hoon

Tujh mein rehne laga hoon

Main toh bas jee raha hoon, bin mere

Tujhe khwaab mein dikhna chaahoon

Teri saans mein khona chaahoon

Tere dil ke inn zakhmo pe

Marham main hona chaahoon

A - kaash kissi din ye sach hojaye!

Khuda ko dikh raha hoga, na dil tujhse judaa hoga

Teri taqdeer mein mujhko, woh ab toh likh raha hoga

With thoughts surrounding him and vision blurring him out he dozed off

At 7:00 am

Devika got ready for college and anupama was asleep due to yesterdays trauma

She sat next to her pecking her forehead she shook her

D - anu

After multiple calls anupama opened her eyes..and looked around..she clutched the bedsheet in her hands while tears formed in her eyes

Devika took her in a hug and rubbed her back

D - sshhh..calm down anu..tujhe kuch nahi hoga relax..ek kaam kar tu ready hoja..aur chal mera saath college..tu better feel karegi..

Anupama nodded negatively

A - nahi mujhe kahin nahi jana..tu college ja mae theek hun

D - par tujhe akela kaisa chod sakti hun mae

A - mae akela rehna chahti hun thodi daer..I promise kuch galat nahi karungi apne saath..mae bachpan se akele rahi hun toh ab bhi mae reh sakti hun..I promise afternoon classes ke liye aajaungi

D - anu par

A - please

Devika nodded half heartedly and went to college

Vikram returned to his room completely tired as he was made to clean the whole store room..he was sleep deprived..he entered in to find anuj all ready for college

V - tu college ja raha hai

Anuj nodded

V - par kyun..tu rest kar..aise behave mat kar jaise tu bohat padaku hai

A - I'm fine bunty..tu thak gaya hoga I hate our Warden for that..do teen ghante soja phir aja na after noon classes ke liye

V - mae physically tired par tu emotionally tired hai..ruk ja na

Anuj nodded negatively

A - sleep..u need it..mae theek hun mujhe adat hai

Vikram sighed defeated and laid on the bed..with in few minutes he was in deep slumber..anuj chuckled and covered him with the duvet and walked out

At 9:00 am

Devika and anuj sat next to each other in the bench before they could ask about Vikram and anupama..principal entered in

The class stood and greeted him while principal said

Principal - so as u know its the beginning of the year for your juniors and your last year..as per the college rules we will have the fresheners party for new comers and talents week for you guys

The whole class cheered and principal called anuj

P - anuj I want you and anupama to submit the list of programs and names of students participating in it

An annoyed vanraj asked

V - why only anuj and anupama sir?

The principal replied

P - because they're the class representators and one more thing

By the end of the talents week who ever we get as a winner will be the class representator for the whole year..the talents week will be held by next week..

He turned to the teacher and said

Write the names of students on chit and drop it in 2 bowls and 2 teachers will pick it..whose ever name comes up at same time will be partners

The teacher and students nodded

Anuj was busy throughout the morning in collecting names

At 12:00pm

Devika sat in the cafeteria when anuj sat opposite to her completely exhausted

D - kya khayega? Aur bunty kahan hai

Before anuj could answer Vikram answered from back - yahaan hun

D - subha ki classes ke liye kyun nahi aye

V - wo tabiyaat theek nahi lag rahi thi

Devika turned worried and anuj looked on

D - kya huwa?

V - arre calm down devu bas head ache tha..acha tum kuch order karo mae ata hun

Before devika could ask he disappeared & anuj asked

A - anu..i mean anupama ayegi aaj college?

Devika eyed at him and asked

D - kuch puchun tujhse?

Anuj nodded

D - parsao raath mere phone se tujhe video call gaya tha..par tab phone anu ke pass tha..aur call puri raath chala hai..iska kya matlab hai anuj

Anuj heaved while devika asked

D - sach bata anuj..tere aur anupama ke beech kuch chal raha hai jo hum nahi jante

Mean while Vikram texted anupama about the announcements and she replied that she would join them in lunch

He turned and walked to the duo (devika and anuj) where anuj had sat stunned and devika repeated the question to which Vikram replied

V - haan chal raha hai devika

Devika looked up and gazed at the duo before she could ask further anupama walked towards them..devika stood up happily

D - anu

Anupama tried smiling at her

Bin kahe sab sun leta hai mera yaar
Dard se khushiyan chun leta hai mera yaar

While Vikram walked up to her and forwarded his hand..she looked on for a while and held it..Vikram smiled while the duo walked to the table..

Devika brought the chair out and she sat looking at them..anuj kept gazing at her while anupama didn't look back..anuj sighed

Duniya se lad jaata hai mere liye
Lekin mujhse haar jata hai mera yaar

Vikram held her face & asked - tumhara favorite chocolate shake laun..

Anupama nodded while he walked to place the order

Agar mudke dekhu jo main zara
Toh kabhi na raha tujhse judaa

Anuj felt uneasy looking at her..he walked past her when anupama held her wrist..he frozed

Anupama got up from her seat while anuj looked at their hands joined but didn't look at her

A - itna ajeeb behave maat karo please..tumhari galati nahi hai anuj

Anuj looked up gulping - I'm sorry anu..anupama

Anupama chuckled - dost anu keh sakte hain..isiliye baar baar apni sahi ko galat maat karo..tum anu keh sakte ho

Anuj asked confused- dost?

Anupama forwarded her right hand and asked 'friends' while her other hand (left) was still locked with Anuj's (right) hand

Anuj's eyes turned wide

Anuj - tum mujhse dosti karna chahti ho?

Anu - tum se dosti nahi huwi toh shayad meri zindagi ka ek hissa adhura reh jayega

Anuj smiled widely and forwarded his left hand & shook it

Both hands were joined.. before's hold screamed the need and the next hold spoke of new beginnings

Yaara teri yaari
Umrr saari saath hai

Devika smiled looking at the scene while Vikram placed the shakes on the table

The four sat in comfortable silence enjoying the taste of new element of sweetness in their lives

A good friend is like a four leaf clover 🍀
