I've watched grounded movies and enjoyed them. Plenty such movies from the south become successes too. Thing is KJo doesn't know how to make them himself. He's not a good producer, either, when it comes to such movies because he reportedly interferes in creative and casting choices.

Even the corny stuff needs something new for the audience to watch. The guy admitted almost a decade ago that he hasn't read a book in 6 years. Would be a decade plus now of no book reading. He said he wrote the plot for ADHM in 9 minutes. Clearly, he's not a good writer. Nor will he hire decent writers and pay them. So who will watch the films?

See the thing is Karan cries for the success to the level of K3G and KKHH, the 3 crore plus footfall bringing. Which can never happen with the likes of Kapoor's and Son, Wake Up Sid and ADHM. So if he wants that level of success, he needs to make movies in similar vein targetting the corny cringey tiktok/reels loving generation but at the same time appealing the aunties, who will drag their husbands to the theater.

He needs to bring a charming handsome young boy who will bring in the girls, and a good looking yet not so exposed girl, who will bring the boys, making a corny traditional story set up with the old fashioned family traditions.

As much as this young generation doesn't want to admit but for all the independence and freedom from family life and cry about horrible relatives, most of this generation is lonely and they feel happy when they see genuine bond among families.

That was a different era when people didn't have access to OTT, youtube etc and NRIs got their dose of nostalgia from movies like DDLJ or the upper elite watched this type of stuff in multiplex

Now there are tons of options, from panchayat to elite stuff on netflix, so many platforms

whatever the genre it is has to be very well done for people to turn up in theaters and hindi cinema doesn't have stars in the younger generation who can pull people to theaters like shahrukh and salman

@bold this... And mainly the heroines, none are appealing or path breaking types... From jhanvi, Sara to Ananya are just forgetable ... Who left to bring audience to theatre. Coming to heroes, It is real test time to see after covid and people got used to OTT how much can SRK and Salman can bring the audience back ..

My point is why would anyone watch another DDLJ when they can see original?

He needs new stories. KJo hasn't read a book, and he's not a good writer. Nor will he actually pay writers to do it.

So how is he going to get his corny, cringey, happy family saga?
