God knows how Naina would have felt when she got to know of Aman's illness..The guy she loved also loved her back and she didn't get to experience it till the very end..when she could have been with Aman in his most difficult times, she didn't even know about his suffering..It actually hurts to know u could've been there for someone but couldn't.. Just coz u didn't know. Nothing is more painful then the feeling that someone u r so emotionally attached to doesn't even share their pain with u.

I mean parents are not exactly wrong when they are apprehensive about getting their daughters married to a street ka lukkha type ladka who basically has no means of living, such things hardly happen in real life 😆 In movies these chicks be choosing the poorest guy around and would then introduce them to their super rich parents, parents won't be impressed now would they 😆

yes parents were not wrong in opposing their daughter's choice no parents will accept dev(Sunil Shetty's character) kind of guy for their daughter but that does not mean that they should force her to marry someone when she is not ready.in the movie the father emotionally blackmail Shilpa to marry akshay saying if she does not marry he will die dont remember exactly.

Yesterday watched ala vaikuntha puram by allu arjun and the constant staring at girls leg as the girl don't even care about that is weird. The movie will be remade in Hindi so cringe *100 🤢

Many South movies has this regressive love story plotlines where hero will stalk heroine, demean and belittle her and the girl can't let go. Salman ka wanted - I hated how he treated jhanvi as she kept crying all the time.

Not exactly. Benaam Badshaah tries to convince the audience via the heroine that the hero is redeemable. We're supposed to believe that after all these horrible crimes, he deserves a happy ending.Kanthavalayam makes it clear that the hero can never be redeemed and a long term relationship with him is a bad idea. Death is waiting for him. It's only a question of when and how.

Anil Kapoor's character is a crazy looking street rat in BB. Juhi first meets him as he rapes her. Why would she want to have anything to do with him? Meanwhile Jayan in Kanthavalayam is sauve, sophisticated, mysterious and has come to the heroine's rescue before. They are both lonely and there has always been a simmering attraction between them. You can see why she's delusional here.

Moreover Kanthavalayam is about a woman's journey. She never pressurizes the hero for marriage.She has to fight the fates, make mistakes and ultimately bring up their child alone. She realizes that she doesn't have her family, friends or boyfriend to stand with her.

Yup. In BW movies parents and their outdated mentality has forever been shoved down our throats in the name of "only they know what's best for us" crap, as if the children don't have wishes and dreams of their own. Forced marriages are a big no for me as well, it can destroy a person's emotional as well as physical well being, much more than people realise.

That sounds like a very complicated storyline. Kudos to the director for having put the point across well. Although I'm not sure if a lot of the Indian audience was able to grasp it. The problem with Indian audience is that the difference and intricacies of such sensitive subjects have to be spelt out otherwise it goes whoosh over our heads (atleast the majority of mainstream audience). And most directors lack the knack to handle movies with heavy subjects (KANK Or recent Gehraiyaan). In such a case it becomes a parody or worse yet, the Gospel truth for launde lapates.

As you say it is a fine dance. A little swag and charm is necessary to make it clear why the heroine fell for her abuser. Too much slow motion and thunderous music- and the audience will start worshiping him. The director I.V Sasi was famous back in the day for tackling many controversial subjects in his movies .

In this scene from the movie Kanthavalayam, you can see the heroine coming home after being raped. You feel sorry for her loneliness . Not a soul to help her. In fact her best friend had set up the chain of circumstances which led to the rape. At the same time she deals with the dual emotions of hatred and 'delusions' of love.
