Okay. So first of all I want to ask if there are any Telugites here. For those of you who don't know what that means, it represents all Telugu language speaking people form both South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. And if you are one (or may be not too) and happen to hear about a latest Telugu movie called "Ante Sundaraniki" and are planning to watch it eagerly, Disclaimer: This post is a big spoiler alert.
For those of you Non-Telugites or people who already have watched the movie, you may proceed to read😆
I happened to watch the above said movie today and I'm writing this post right after coming home at 3.00AM IST. Couldn't stop myself😆. You guys will not believe that the plot of the movie unbelievably coincides with the current track of Imlie. Pregnancy-Infertility track😆
I'll just sum up the movie for you guys to understand. The hero (Sundar-another coincidence haan?) is Brahmin guy and Heroine (Leela) is a catholic. Both of them come from very religionist families and Inter-religion marriage is something their families would never agree to in normal circumstances. Add to it, Sundar is the only heir to the family and it is expected that he will marry a girl of their community and take the family lineage forward. Obviously Sundar and Leela fall in love with each other and decide to get married. But for the fear that their families would never ever agree to this alliance in normal circumstances, they decide to deceive their families and create circumstances that will force their families to agree to this marriage.
So, they decide to tell different lies to both their families. Leela lies to her family that she's pregnant and Sundar creates fake reports and informs his family that he can never father a child. This leaves no choice to Leela's parents because she's pregnant and Sundar convinces his parents that inspite of knowing about his infertility, Leela has the big heart to accept him . Sundar's parents aren't aware of Leela's pregnancy lie and Leela's parents don't know about Sundar Infertility lie. What follows are some hilarious scenarios for the fear of being caught but eventually the parents agree.
The real trouble ensues when Leela is taken to a doctor and her test results end up positive. It is clearly mentioned that they haven't had sex and Sundar-Leela don't understand how she can be pregnant but Sundar never even questions her fidelity for a second .Just like Aryan he doesn't even let her complete the sentence when she tries explaining . They decide to get one more test done and Sundar assures her that if she 's really pregnant, they shall consider the child like it is their's (Sundar-Leela's) and bring it up together no matter what. It is eventually found that Leela has some rare ovarian cancer/tumour that always shows your pregnancy test results as positive even though if you are not. That ailment makes her chances of having a child scarce. It is mentioned that she may or may be able to give birth to a child and it is left at that at the end of the movie. Their lies are caught and after some emotional climax scenes, Sundar-Leela reunite and the movie ends on a happy note.
Now that you guys have an idea of the plot, I'm gonna list some of the common things I found in Imlie and this movie.
1. Firstly, the confusing chaotic Pregnant-Not pregnant -Infertile-Fertile plot is present in both the cases be it because of their own doing in Sundar-Leelas's case or Jo's manipulation in Imlie
2. Imlie's Fake Infertility - Sundar's Fake Infertility which then actually turns to be their partners's infertility Leela's Infertility - Aryan's Infertility (although he isn't really while Leela is)
3. Not understanding how the girls got pregnant in both the cases because Aryan considers himself infertile and Sundar-Leela haven't had sex although things take a different route from here in both the cases.
4. Both Aryan and Sundar have unwavering unconditional trust in their partners. Not for one second do they question their partner's fidelity.
5. Both the guys are ready to accept the baby wholeheartedly even though they consider the baby not to be theirs biologically.
6. Both the guys have accepted their girls infertility with open arms. Imlie's initial infertilty and Leela's actual.
7. In the movie, Sundar emphasizes on the fact that Pregnancy should be a choice for women not a compulsion like Aryan where he tells that becoming a mother should be a women's choice
Sundar's father flips when he gets to know about Leela's possible infertility and Sundar's mother lashes out at his father that as long as you believed that the Khot (infertility) was in your son, you were showering praises and heartily welcomed Leela into the family but when things have become reverse, your true colours have come out. It's like Khot hum main hai to sab kuch sahi sab kuch acha but the moment the problem lies with someone else, we don't want to embrace it. Why such double standards. I so want this same kind of lashing out to Nammu too. Aryan should give her back on her double standards if and when Aryan's infertility comes out in the open.
Ufff...Itna hi hai...Iss post ke liye. I was just amazed at the coincidence and was comparing things happening there to Imlie through out the move😆. I couldn't wait to come home and write this post😆 Imlie land not leaving me even when I try doing something else for a change🤣
