UPDATED TWEET (posted Thursday, June 2, 2022): Forum member AwaamKiJaan brought it to my attention that Bachchhan Paandey collected 12 cr nett on opening day (Holi, but affected by Kashmir Files wave). Also, the film has been declared tax-free in MP and UP which is an advantage. Therefore, I have changed my prediction:

if it fails it will due to lack of promotions, a big scale movie needed huge promotion, yashraj released the trailer only 4 weeks before its release date and started promotion final 8 to 9 days. If it fails it won't backfire akki, he will get his money but yashraj will lose big chunk of investment and that be slap on their faces i hope.

I disagree. This is will be Akshay’s third or fourth flop in a row. Plus he got the most trolling after the trailer came out not just for his acting but for proudly claiming that he finished the movie in 42 days. That statement will probably haunt him for years to come 🤷🏽‍♀️. YRF will incur some losses as well. This will be their second disaster after Jayeshbai which was only a few weeks ago, but you don’t become one of the biggest production houses in Hindi cinema and not survive a couple of disasters. Ultimately both Akshay (he might have to reevaluate some things) and YRF will be fine long term but Akshay will feel this loss more in terms of immediate future demands and marketability of his next 2-3 projects IMHO.

OT, I agree with the predictions except even 9cr seems high for opening day. But I don’t analyze numbers the way you do Bobby so I’ll go with your numbers 😃.

Opening lower than Bachchan Pandey? Are you sure? BP despite having a crap trailer and tough competition from Kashmir Files did 12 Crores on first day.
