The media salivated over it for a bit until they realized public opinion was against them.
SRK has not had another release since then for him to pull back from public interaction or media interaction because of it.
If deliberate entrapment of a child in a drug case doesn't seem like life-changing event to you, I guess you can mistake it for sulks over flops which didn't happen (in the time period mentioned).
There is absolutely nothing in the world that compares to your child in trouble. Not movie flops, financial flops, not political failire, not even if you get put in prison yourself. Your child dragged into prison, ONLY BECAUSE HE IS YOUR CHILD! Yet people think it's because of prior flops. But then, people who close their eyes can't be made to see. If they did, they might feel remorse for being part of a lynch mob.
