I remember reading somewhere that they initially planned to make Kathir a drunkard after marriage in Pandian stores , since it became a hit with the family audience they toned it down... not sure about the veracity of that story though... antha aasaiya jeeva vechu niraivuethuranga pola...
That is true. There is one promo that came before the serial started where Mullai is waiting for Kathir at late night but he comes drunk and refuses to eat and is very rude to her. She is upset and Dhanam is also sad seeing this. This promo made it look like Kathir will not accept the wedding while Mullai would. Clique story of rude ML and kind FL who will make him change his ways. But the story got reversed in the serial. Mullai did not accept it but Kathir did. I guess it did make a difference to the viewers cuz this story was better than the initial one. Plus Kathir becoming a drunkard would not align with the good upbringing of Dhanam which was the core plot of the serial.
