I hope The Archies becomes iconic like Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. It looks refreshing, breezy and fun.

If you're talking about box office then DCH and ZNMD had Superstars unlike Kai Po Che which had newcomers.
In comparison Archies would never reach the heights of Kai Po Che.
I
The Akhtar audience is urban metros, the films have not done well in single screen or mass.
For me I don't think it is about rich or middle class or poor, Zoya has always touched upon the high class society.
What worked for DCH was that in 2001 the concept of modern love with characters just talking was very fresh, it resonated with the changing times, a very urban take with fantastic actors , performances and music
For ZNMD and to a large extent Dil dhadakne do, it had a stellar cast, music and great performances.
The treatment was fun and best of all the cast looked Indian, rich and urban for sure but definitely Indian.
The biggest problem with Archies is its treatment, the characters are whitened and looks very cartoonish, hell Suhana looked different but I could not identify Khushi,it would have maybe worked 10 years ago, but with ott where you can get authentic content in the same channel why would the urban audience want to watch an inspired content that looks so bad when I can watch Riverdale for example.
Maybe it won't be so bad where Zoya could make it watchable or it can be Zoya's first disaster
