Nahi re! I'm not trying to find logic in this show. I am trying to understand how it is in reality. India has a variety of cultures, various degrees of conservatism and tolerance. So, I was trying to understand how the ground reality is. That's all.
Smitha, I've spoken to many about the same, conclusion is that the emancipated groups with highest education level combined with higher income strata and suburban area and progressive family views tend to be the outliers (I want to say 20%, my parents differ in opinions they say it's more like 7-10%of society) rest all fall in various shades of Shah family types.
I mean I can give you countless examples,
1. My neighbor back home who got married (Rajput family had display of all the things she was bringing to the new home, including a giant platter full of money)
2. Another acquaintance whose daughter got married 2 months ago, sent in 1 acre of land when girl got married along with Jewelry clothes, money etc and she is pregnant (both are in mind 20s have MBAs and just starting career)😳😳 I really can't understand these folks.
Most of these are in late teens and early 20s and girls having kids within the yr if marriage and if no kid, then ppl wonder why? Is there a problem 🥺😩😖🤬🤬
And then there are example where marriage is equitable, partners roles are interchangeable, either of them cook, clean, drive, dropff kids or take care of financials, household matters.
Financial personal independence is there, career growth, progression is there.
Most of these strata have kids later in life, late 20s early 30s, they are career focused, travel, explore other cultures etc.
Again this % is small but growing I think and again not perfect but various levels of Samar/Anuj/Sanjay Bhai/GK(parent figure) type folks are there...
It's a whole gammat but hopefully shows like Anupamaa can definitely make society understand that change is required.
You are a product of your environment eg. Toshu sees how Anuj treats his mom and so he starts treating his wife like that... That's what is required. Lead by example.
Let me know what you think...
