This show 🤦🏻‍♀️ I feel like it triggers me more than most others because it pulls so much nonsense but still masquerades as progressive. And the thing is, I've seen almost all episodes, and this show indeed DOES know how to be progressive. It consciously chooses not to.

This show masquerades sermons as feminism, Stockholm syndrome as love, abusers as family. And they don't even try to cover the fact that no one has functioning braincells anymore.

I avoid commenting on this forum because it feels mean to come in only with negative thoughts but looks like everyone is pissed rn so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've seen enough to not want to tune in voluntarily, can't avoid unfortunately.

Also, what stresses me is my First cousin who's like 13 in July watches this shit religiously 🤦

Oh dudee, you know I feel comfortable at my age to watch crap because I feel like I have the critical thinking skills to separate it as fiction and enjoy it, but it's terrifying to see kids watching this. A 13 year old internalizing any of this is...worrisome. I get your stress.

And I don't mind negative behaviour in fiction, that makes it entertaining, but also...bad should be framed as bad. This show's narrative on the other hand, validates Anu, Anuj, Bapuji's behaviour- which is so damaging. And then put a veneer of superficial woman empowerment by having one of those three deliver a sermon.

That's the point of storytelling no? So that we can differentiate good and bad in lives. Why do we have moral stories for?

It's sad what a goldmine this show has tossed away. They had an opportunity to tell the story of a victim of domestic abuse breaking out, growing, moving on, finding herself, healing from relationship trauma, falling in love. It was beautiful watching a middle aged, minimally educated woman find the courage to ask for a divorce. And the so called 'regressive' TRp audience wholeheartedly supported this.

They dropped the ball big time after a couple of months of Anuj though. There was excellent potential, amazing chemistry in the beginning. Now...they may work on paper but gosh such a boring and hard to watch, and even harder to root for, couple they've made them be.

Anuj and Devika used to discuss how Anu is easily pulled in by the Shah fam toxicity. Now Anuj is the same 🤷🏻‍♀️🙆🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
