I think the idea is to show that even though both are mature in age, this is the new experience for them. Yes, the dialogues and monologues were poorly written,

I think they wanted to be done with consummation before starting the murder mystery.

In a way, a C night with nice decorations and costumes doesn’t suit RaYa. I am ok with the consummation itself, but as you said the next few episodes were a huge miss (&mess).
