You're in the minority for sure. There are days when the only thing that keeps me sane is the fact that my taste buds are still fully functional and I can still relish meals of my choice even when everything around me is going to hell in a hand basket. 🤯

This is what I said in my previous post though.

I'll be sure to avoid pani puris cuz I'm anyway not fond of them if I'm not having them in the streets back in desi land.

Don't miss the second half in blue! I love pani puris but it has to be perfect, which it seldom is in restaurants here.

Anyways, I will be trying them out in NY, among other stuff. I have made a list after watching some YT vlogs and this thread is gonna come in handy too.😆

It is possible that you are having them in the wrong places! 😡 The vendor to whom I go for pani puri wears disposable gloves, has his cart covered so that no dust falls over water. I've had pani puri in fine dine, and it tastes bland there. Im sure it must be watered down to taste of international crowd in restaurants there.

When is this NYC trip happening?😆

Nah, most of them have these thick Pani Puri balls that look kinda stale and are hard to crack. Imagine a bowl of non-spicy tamarind water with little to no seasoning, onions, boiled potatoes, and half raw garbanzo beans. There is no point wasting calories on those. and decent eateries are hard to come by. I was supposed to visit this year but I'm not sure when that'll be with the flight prices doubling up after the war.😵

About you assuming that everything is watered down for Americans here, some places definitely do that but most of the places I've been don't. They're just bland regardless. While we're on the topic, I should probably mention that Indo-Pak restaurants tend to get their seasonings right and are more flavorful in general.... it could have to do with the fact that they're meat eaters.
