Honest opinion on contest track:
This could have been a good one, they tried to raise some good issues.
No wonder KD was excited about it, because with dialogues he gets understory as well.
What went completely off was:
A. Execution & editing
B. Push to give Dhara prominence in this.
contest 1st round: Bra sale: was horrible. Fault lies with director here. The way he made Shiva hold it even at the end while he was giving pitch.
A simple Sigh, resolve to do this for Store- had they shown him folding it, holding in his palms & saying simple dialogues - would have worked . pinch-shake-guilt didn’t.
Adding Dhara taking rest of the episode explaining him about it - made things worse.
Not showing a small simple scene of Raavi- Shiva conversation in their room about contest- felt something was amiss. Kuchch baaki reh gaya story mein.
This was to be about Raavi supporting Shiva, when his family ditched him. Suddenly making Dhara jump in and taking over- only makes her look selfish opportunist- who will claim shiva again as he is winning.
contest round2: was good. Paper bags over plastic is a good message. Though india always had eco friendly, sustainable lifestyle products: reusable cloth bags, kulhads, leaf plates etc. Still this was good, as polythin bags were and are a problem still! So overall, good.
Contest round3: I will wait for it to continue today. it is showing VERY important one, They are highlighting the longtime problems of ‘vachetiya’ as they say in gujarati or brokers- commision agents.
Farm act laws were well received in most of the country , as it cut off these middlemen to allow farmer to get price of their crop in direct sales. Unfortunately one state is middlemen heavy & NRI funding for the ‘protests’ & wasted interests ended up forcing Govt to backtrack- for time being.
Sensitive & brave issue.
Though missed opportunity by writers+directors to highlight, explain a bit more.
They have shown Janardhan is the middleman.
They show Jaanu getting uncomfortable, but will all viewers get it? more subtle yet direct explanation is needed. Hope it is conveyed through Shiva today.
Will applaud creative team, esp. writers for addressing this though. Not easy.
