Shubham invited him, that’s what I got from Shubham’s dialogues, that he decided to give his bhai the gift of reopening the case, there was an indication even before Pri’s goading, Shubham bringing out VK’s pic.

That’s why I think it is all part of Shashi’s plan of giving them a murderer as he knows Priya won’t stop the investigation
