That is where the kanjoose part comes in. When you only attend people's functions and do not give the same people's functions to enjoy. But I guess if they are having money issues now they can do a better function later.

The fact others chose to have lavish weddings is not the fault of the Kapoors. They were invited, and they went.

Even if they were not having money problems, a wedding is not a tit for tat game. If the bride and groom want to keep it small, they have the right to. Nothing kanjoos about it. Once again, the marriage is what's important, not the wedding.

It is a personal choice. But I would feel obligated to invite people. If I have been invited by them.

Good! I wish this really becomes a trend. Save for your marriage, not a wedding.

And for those who're claiming it's because the Kapoors have money problems: perhaps. It happens, esp in a business like theirs. Kudos to them then for recognizing this not the time to throw money on superficial stuff. Too many people go into debt only to show off at weddings.

Agreed. Big fat weddings are a waste of money. And heavy makeup that change your whole face is ghastly.

Even in the middle class families....parents take loan to have the whole marriage ceremonies and what not....people come, enjoy, criticize and leave....no one remembers if after 2 years.....the only one who remember it are te poor parents still paying the loans....its high time that the bride and the groom put their foot down and say no to all the money that is spent on the weddings....especially if one is not rich and has to take loans......when my kids get married....its going to be one simple little party for the close family and friend....if I have enough money that will go in my kid's banks to help them start their married life.

Seriously they can eat and drink all that stuff whenever or wherever they want, doesn't need invitation for that 🤣

Exactly. I absolutely loathe the system of making weddings a big show for the society, whether you can afford it or not. The bride and the groom should pay for their own wedding. If they cannot, then they should be the ones taking the loan or throwing a small party for their wedding.

This societal pressure of having to throw a huge wedding bash should go.

I have seen parents spending their retirement fund for the marriage of their kids and then struggle for the rest of their lives...😭

The latest trend I have seen is....parent's of the groom not asking for dahej...thank God....but instead they say they want lavish wedding from a 5 star hotel with all the ceremonies....iss se to kam paise dahej mein lagte...😵....Recently one of my relative's daughter got married in a 7 star hotel in Agra.....and I know that there is no way that they could have done without taking loans or borrowing money but that is what the groom's family wanted...
