Brilliant post! @moor
Again I have watched the episodes fast forward 😂 and I absolutely had no heart to watch the diya visarjan Or whatever that Sairat scene was 😭
But coming to diya symbolism. (Please correct me scene wise if I interpret incorrectly)
During MiMo track towards the end on Diwali.
Ashwini hinted at Diya, Roshni and Khushi.
So essentially, she wanted Sai to understand that the light she spreads in other people's lives, she needs to search in her for herself. Light up her own life. And that's where her quest begins. To know the truth. What does V really feel for her? Does he love her as his wife? Is it friendship or more?
Brilliant metaphor!
Light up your life with love and joy. Sai started thinking about them, about herself.
And BAM!!!!
V leaves on mission.
Now I'm not really sure about the entire diya visarjan scene between Sairat.
But what I understand is V is freeing himself from his responsibility of helping her becoming a doctor.
I essentially ( at least Ideologically) never interpreted this scene as him renouncing her as his wife. He probably is too weak to do that. And he knows it. That's why he keeps running. Before his fear comes true. Before Sai leaves him again. Before he breaks down again. He runs away with fear.
Connecting this with Ashwini's scene ( If V extinguished the diya, it's almost like he's extinguishing the possibility of love, joy and happiness from his life. If Sai has reignited it, then the love is here to stay. And V will stay not because Sai will compel him to. But he'll stay by choice - for Sai, for his love, for his joy)
Coming to his responsibility -
The diya visarjan can be interpreted in other way too.
Ashwini advised Sai to search for that light in her for herself.
But who can know Sai better than V? He knows Sai is someone who can go lengths for people who matter to her. That is now affecting him as she's pulling back. She's independent but not selfish. Her service is selfless.
I'm connecting that scene with today's scene where he calls her Dr. Joshi. By being free of his responsibility it also means that he's giving her space to be her individual self, to be that doctor who wants to serve people. His faith comes from the episode in Shruthi's track where he saw her in the hospital as a professional. His trust in her is complete.
That diya visarjan is almost like - "Go out and spread your light".
Very much like MiMo track when Sai started searching for light in her life for herself, V had leave on a mission to probably spread light to those who were in need.
Symbolically the light of lamp represents wisdom and knowledge. The wick burns itself to spread light. Only knowledge can kill ignorance, hate, and indifference.
Though Shruthi's track was executed badly, the point was V's dedication towards his friend, his love for his friend. (I absolutely despise this track. But I can't ignore the idea behind it. So please tolerate a little 😁)
While V was fulfilling his responsibility to make her a doctor, he always addressed her as his wife first. Sai addressed herself as Sai Joshi.
Only after Shruthi's track Sai is openly calling herself as Chavan, may it be press conference or anything else.
And today V calls her Dr. Joshi. He's acknowledging her as an individual and a professional before calling her as his wife. This is so crucial in any relationship. Being respected for what you really are. Gives a slight glimpse - V will always support in her journey, no matter what.
Song choices were really good in this episode. Even I was surprised 😂
No matter how many times V tries to extinguish the light of love in his heart, Sai will always be there to rekindle it.
How much ever we dislike it, but their journey together or individual is about spreading light in other people's lives.
The precap -
V will never let Sai forget love and compassion. He might call it as courage. But he'll remind her always.
Sai will never let V forget love and care. She might call it as effort. But she'll remind him always.
Thanks for reminding us about the Diya reference on Diwali. Great analogy on Diya and light.
You are absolutely right about him giving her that space by addressing her as Dr Joshi. From my experience of my marriage and so many others, the major reason for a marriage to fail is when one partner (in Indian context, it’s usually the husband) does not give the other their own space to grow, explore new relationships both at work and even among friends, and encourage to excel professionally . A good marriage is where the husband is proud to tell his friends and family about his wife’s achievements. Viru is perfect husband material in that sense. Maybe because of this one aspect alone, I am able to give leeway to this character whenever he tries to redeem himself after hurting Sai. 😉 He has been her biggest cheerleader 😃
I loved loved this part of your analysis. You nailed it
“No matter how many times V tries to extinguish the light of love in his heart, Sai will always be there to rekindle it.
How much ever we dislike it, but their journey together or individual is about spreading light in other people's lives. “
👏👏
Vanku might have messed up the show but the kind of write up and analysis on this forum makes up for all that loss 🤗🤗
