Yes he was shocked at her cheating, as he was not expecting it from her. This was their day, though in different teams they should have been 'working' together so it hurt him. You can see the shock and hurt in his face at her complete obliviousness. For her it was family against family so she will make sure her family wins. She never once thought of it's them against everyone as her brain does not work like that nor has she come to that point in their relationship yet.
Her lack of understanding is important because she will act like that when faced with the accident truth.
However, this cheating is needed for the first scale to drop from Abhi's eyes to see that all is not rosy as he believes. His fears come to the surface and will add fuel to his anger.
At the moment she is taking him and his love for granted. Think what she will do to win it back when she realises she is in danger of losing it?
