I never made the argument of “everybody does it” therefor it’s OK. I said, and I still say, that making jokes about Ayan’s years long love for Ranbir is entirely about him being in love for years and not moving on. I have not seen anyone bringing any homophobic tropes into the discussion here on IF in recent times.

it's not about just using heterosexuality as an example but don't you think even mocking someone's feelings for a person is itself so wrong? Whatever it is, it's very personal to him. Moving or or not, it's entirely one's choice as long as it's not having a diverse affect on the person they like or harming anyone else how does it matter? Beside, no one knows, no matter how much people talk about "open secret" what is Ayan is to Ranbir. Just think about them being really just best friend & time n again reading such unwanted comment, being a butt of people's joke ; must not be a really good feeling. Same for DP. She is married now. She sure can be hating on RK in secret or still have fondness towards him, it's for her to deal with. Just because she is is a public figure, it doesn't mean we can just trash talk about her all we want.

We, as individuals may not be able to change the entire society but if we don't participate in it & can make even one person to not do it, that itself would be a big change.

So it’s no longer homophobic to mock Ayan’s unrequited love for Ranbir. Now we shouldn’t do it because it’s just mean and it might hurt his feelings if he ever reads these? In that case then should we not discuss movies or critique the acting in case the actors come across those comments? Come on!! This is Bollywood forum. Almost everyone is here to talk about actors and their entertaining or boring personal shenanigans. We are all here to have fun by talking everything Bollywood. We agree, we disagree, we defend our favorites, and mock the ones we dislike. Rinse, repeat.

If that's what you got from what I said, then I think I should definitely leave it to that. :) Thanks.

We romantically link-up celebs all the time. Whether straight or gay. This forum's entire existence is on the basis of such rumours. But there is no malice for anyone. I don't see why gay people cannot be joked about. They are like anybody else and do not need any special privileges.

Ayan and Ranbir have been linked for ages, in fact it is Ranbir's longest enduring link-up through his relationships with various women. So to say that Ayan must be sad to see Ranbir officially become someone else's... what's there to take offense here?

I know that you don't have any malice...that is the reason for my first comment....but you cannot throw the first stone at some one in joke thinking that there are people who might start throwing stones seriously and hurt a person...

yes gays and lesbians are absolutely normal people.....but does are society treat them as normal? Do we have the same marriage rights for them...do they not face mockery and even violence at times.....I mean how can anyone in their right minds say that the LGBTQ community is the same as anyone else when it comes to social acceptance......so no we have to think twice before making a joke on them...some may be strong enough to take the joke...but most are not.

Definition of homophobia - dislike of or prejudice against gay people.

This post shows neither of the two.

People need to stop projecting their own insecurities onto others.

Gay people are human, and this post is not mocking anyone's sexuality.

In fact, I would go so far as to say people who are reacting against this post for its 'homophobic' content are actually closeted homophobic as they can't fully understand that gay people can have emotions and can be humanized.

Yes humanizing them by making fun of them. Humanizing them by making covid jokes about them as you have done in past. We can see who is homophobic here.

The day this society learns to provide a gay couple the same respect it gives to the heterosexual relationship that day we can make jokes about them . Making fun of them without providing respect does not sit right with me

People fail to understand that ayan s relationship with his partner is not in the same category as deepveer/vikat/virushka s relationship for the simple fact that this society cherishes the latter relationship while frowning upon the former. How come it's ok to make fun of ayan in name of "humanizing" but not provide his relationship with the same respect they bestow upon the heterosexual relationship

The audacity to talk about projecting insecurities when you are insensitive enough to make covid jokes

Well you went too far with this...ur logic is twisted with no sir and pair....so if someone stands up for the rights of the LGBTQ community they are the ones who are the closeted homophobes? wah......yes start bashing us so that no one even dares to raise a finger on something wrong going on......I would say this is the attitude because of which even in 2022 the LGBTQ community is still crying for help....when they shouldn't have to...
