Doesn't matter what they believed, as long as adi and/or imlie didn't do anything to get the gunpoint marriage annulled, it's valid which makes adini first wedding illegal by default because bigamy is not permitted in India.

Malini could hold him accountable for cheating / fraud and bigamy because he married her and hid his first wedding. That's the legal upper hand she has. Not as wife.

But also she has socially an upper hand because he married her in front of society. Badnami and all.

So Adi and Imlie were married at gun point. Forcefully. As far as I know no one registered thsi marriage so it was only a religious wedding but not a legal one.

When Adi married Malini, this time willingly and not at gun point the marriage was naturally registered and made legally sound and recognisable.

When Adi fell in love with Imlie while being Malini's husband the only rationale that was provided to support his bigamy was that Imlie was his first wife... but legally Malini was his lawfully wedded wife right? And even in Religion I don't think marriages conducted at gun point are considered to be blessed by the gods. So in all senses Malini was Adi's first wife... right?

Next when Adi got a divorce from Malini - he never really remarried imlie. I mean unless you consider circling around broken furniture that has been lit alight and then putting sindoor in her maang shaadi. But I am assuming at this point they registered the marriage. So Imlie finally at this point became his wife.

After that he divorced imlie, did not wait the waiting periods after a divorce and then married malini, whom her later divorced.

So Malini should technically be his first and 3rd wife. While Imlie was his second. Can someone explain why people consider his marriage to Malini (the first time round) nullified and Imlie the first wife???

Because they were leads then. And leads can only romance n get mushy mushy when they are married. Even flying sindoor n drone dropped mangalsutra counts. One condition it should be first time wedding bas. So no matter we n malini scream our lungs out that she is his wife it ain’t true in itv land n adilie fandom
