Aah..that explains it. Cuz just like @mango, I too had the same doubt..if Silsila could gather such a strong sentiment for the wife character, what happened here? Cuz when I started following the hashtag on tt and them joined this forum, I was hit with anti-Malini posts. Yes, by then the kaand had happened and the damage was done. Unaware that they were divorced, I was curious as to why a "wife " would have to resort to such "tricks"..so I used to search for Malini posts on Tt. And then I find ppl saying she was "emotionally manipulative" from the start. I think one of the main differences that has blinded some from the loyalty factor/ wife sympathy...is that in Silsila, the doosri came into their lives after the marriage..plus she was the wife's best friend..so it was actually anger at the friend for betrayal foremost which turned into love & support for the wife...Here, even though Malini- Adi was already a thing..scenes weren't shown so that the audience could relate..plus add to it the religious symbolism like PD sindoor which Imlie got first.
See emotionally manipulative narrative of malini also I've only heard from adilie shippers so, I'll just say it's a perspective. Every viewer interprets scenes differently.
And sindoor symbolisms and all, well adilie were endgame before as told by Atif, but some things happened that made him change his mind.
