The 10th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) will see Gujarat Titans (GT) take on the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday.

Both Gujarat and Delhi started their IPL campaigns with wins. While the Titans edged the Lucknow Super Giants in a last-over thriller, Delhi's young brigade overcame Mumbai Indians to start their IPL 2022 journey on a positive note. With the likes of Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan in their ranks, Gujarat Titans will start as the clear favorites. But with Rishabh Pant Co. showing what they are capable of doing in their previous game, a cracking game beckons in Pune.

Things went mostly right for Gujarat Titans in their first ever outing in the IPL, against Lucknow Super Giants. Firstly, Hardik Pandya called it right at the toss. They got danger man KL Rahul out for a first-ball duck. Mohammed Shami produced a brilliant opening spell, while Lockie Ferguson and Rashid Khan made sure to keep things tight in the eight overs they bowled.

In the chase, the middle order kept up with the pressure and finished things off with two balls to spare. Oh, and Hardik bowled his full quota seemingly without a hitch (we're not jinxing anything here). On the whole, Hardik & Co. should be content with the winning start but there were a few hiccups in their victory.

Varun Aaron went for 45 runs in his four overs although he picked up two wickets. There was a wobble at the top order with Shubman Gill departing for a duck and Vijay Shankar following him soon after. But the win means it is likely they will take a few more games to assess if they need to be making any big changes.

Capitals almost gave up in their opener against Mumbai Indians but Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel pulled off a coup by putting up 75 runs in 30 balls. Kuldeep Yadav found his form back by picking 3 for 18, while Shaw started off things well in the chase. In the bowling department, Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel were expensive on the day but Lungi Ngidi and Mustafizur Rahman's availability for this game will only boost them further.

While the pitches in the other three venues - Wankhede, Brabourne and Dr DY Patil stadium - are all made up of red soil, the picthes in MCA Stadium are made of black soil, which is expected to assist spin bowling. The wickets at MCA Stadium are known to be batting friendly initially, but also provide assistance to quality spin bowling. And going by the record, chasing team has an advantage on the wickets at MCA Stadium in Pune. However, the first match of the 2022 season saw the team batting first defend a total above the average score at the venue with the team chasing posting a total below the average score.

It's the start of the Indian summer, and the day is going to be very hot with temperature rising up to 39o C in the end of March, but is expected to get cooler in the nights with temperature reducing as low as 19o C. Both teams will be heading into this clash after having registered impressive wins in their respective season openers. GT kicked off their campaign with a five-wicket win against the other new entrants Lucknow Super Giants while the Capitals got the better of Mumbai Indians by four wickets.

GT were outstanding with both the bat and the ball as they applied brakes on LSG’s momentum right from the word ‘go’. Senior pacer Mohammed Shami rattled the top-order with the new ball in hand and if not for the middle-order trio Ayush Badoni, Deepak Hooda, and Krunal Pandya’s crucial knocks, Lucknow would have struggled to even post a respectable total on the board. Gujarat also proved that they have a solid batting line-up that is capable enough to take the game away from any opposition.
