It is just to create some conflict during wedding. Its not like MaAn will get married tomorrow, obviously they will stretch their wedding for minimum 1-1.5 months I feel. So yeah these conflicts are needed.
Anu also wanted a grand wedding but Bapuji wants to do her wedding as in he wants to spend his (and shah family cuz bapuji has no income) money for his daughter's wedding. Like he said he wants to wash away his sins and he feels this is the way to do it. He is old, understandable why he thinks he needs to do that. Old people think about bhagwan ke ghar jake kya muh dikhaunga etc... so yeah. And Anu being the understanding person she is doesn't want to burden Bapuji with such expenses hence she's compromising on simple wedding.
On the other hand, Anuj is justified to want a grand wedding. Its his first wedding and that too to the love of his life he's waited for 26 years. So Anuj's POV makes sense. Doesn't mean Anu is wrong either. Yes they should discuss all this... but this is just a promo. And if Anuj just agrees for a simple wedding for Anu's or even Bapuji's sake, there won't be any conflict na. You need conflict and drama for wedding. Also, Anuj back on his feet and being rich, Anu is a middle class woman.. this conflict of status was gonna come someday. So here it is. Nothing will change between MaAn but its a matter of difference of opinion thats all.
Also, if Anu said simple wedding hogi without discussing with Anuj. He also said grand wedding hogi without discussing with Anu. So both are making their own plans without telling the others. How is it fair to only blame one? I am pretty sure they will come around. In fact this is a good conflict imo. Lets see how they discuss and sort this out. At the end its not related to shahs, its related to MaAn and Anuj is equally involved as I am sure majority of people wanted.
Plot Twist: Mukku will bear all the expenses and throw a lavish wedding for MaAn ... but I am sure wedding will be lavish.
