If you ask me, at the end of the day, it is an individual choice whom s/he wants to get married to. Parents, family, society can give opinions and advice but beyond that should not impose their own will.
Religion, caste, faith etc are very personal beliefs and it is best to let each person decide what they want to follow or believe.
I don't personally believe that inter-cast or inter-religion marriages are destroying our culture. It is intolerance amd insensitivity to others' opinion which is weakening our society.
Having said this, at a personal level, I would NEVER be open to marrying anyone whom my mother is against...coz for me nothing is more imp than her. Then again, that is also a personal choice. I would not judge anyone who goes against family for love
