The slice of life films and OTT have made BW lose it’s original flavor. They tried to Hollywoodize their movies so much that now they are like na idhar ka ya udhar ka.
I hate to say this but I partly agree. All the dialogues are Hinglish, the music is all 'Saiyyaji Se Aaj Breakup' types and the romance is always slightly inauthentic, if you take out the frank depictions of sex, I'm struggling to think of pairings with chemistry like SRK-Kajol, Salman-Aish and even Anil-Madhuri

Actually, no. Love is more authentic and realistic now. Old Bollywood used to show love in a very pre-teenish and silly way. Now they show love as it is. They show love without saying the word 'love' 457675688889966 times in dialogues.
Arent all mainstream love stories these days following the same template
Lets have fun and no commitment because career is more important, I dont want to get tied down, blah blah. Just casual sex and dating. And the movie ends with them eventually getting together.
I think if you are unable to balance your love life and your career, then problem thoda aap mein bhi hai. Especially with someone who you really love.
Emraan Hashmi ka naam suna hai?
Also you would still find plenty of songs today where there's no smooching or anything like that.
Possibly
But you also got old , this is nostalgia.
PPL born in 70s remember good time of AB, Dharmendra, dev sahab movie and songs.
Today's generation will go through it remembering the ranbir ranveer movie era.

Right, so can you name one film released in the last 5 years that had a universally resonant romantic appeal? Because to me realism doesn't guarantee an emotional connection or authenticity in the story Not the superficial way we do it anyway. Saying "love" 9566600000000 times in dialogues or saying f*ck in the dialogues (because that's how the YOuth oF INdia TALk!!!) does not make a story better or worse- it's the emotional connect that does it, which can happen either way.
But genuinely interested to know, what are a few you would name?

That depends on how you define an emotional connection. In DDLJ, a 'movie with a universally resonant appeal', the girl falls for someone who borderline sexually harasses her. Many movies show stalking as romance. Nopey dopey, I'm good with my realism. And yes, the youth do say 'f*ck' an awful lot these days. Movies sometimes overdo it, but that's not far from reality. Don't need such silly romantic stuff nowadays anyway. Nowadays we have deep, mature sublime love stories, not the stupid candy-floss stuff and I, for one, am grateful for it.
