I'm going to preface this with, I don't think either are the worst people on the planet, but their toxic behaviour in their relationships (father-son, sisters, romantic-partnership) and their actions have made me question that opinion MULTIPLE TIMES. The comparisons between the two are frequent on the forum and interesting to read/partake in. But my question is, why does the comparison always have to turn into a competition of who is worse? Why does it have to be Abhi vs Aaru? Does one being "worse" exonerate the other of their actions?

What I've seen on the forum is that people do admit that all three were wrong but they're only willing to discuss the errors of one. For example, the counter-argument to posts discussing Abhi's faults is Aarohi was wrong and deserved it. Abhi was wrong too but Aarohi this.... (huge paragraph about Aarohi and just that one sentence about Abhi). People adopt this one-dimensional way of thinking where they can only focus on one character at a time. Similarly, on posts criticizing Aarohi, some people defend her by saying Abhi was no better and they go on a tangent about Abhi's "toxic" traits.

I'll admit, I've been guilty of doing the same so here's my attempt to convey my opinion on each (underlined) with minimal justifications for either character (please tell me if I still fell into the one-dimensional thinking trap so I can improve :D):

I can see where Aarohi coming from, and at times feel sympathetic (I really do want a strong arc for her that's more than a vamp character), I know she's wrong. For example, her rant about how Mahima provoked her was delusional. She chose the MD kaand and she should've owned up to it. The fact that it was a scam was karma. Likewise, her incessant accusations of 'you killed my mom' are mental and verbal harassment and no one deserves to endure that. I can see where it's coming from (unhealed trauma and all), but that's not Akshu's fault and she doesn't need to pay the price. The fact that Aarohi never apologize or released Akshu from a guilt Akshu shouldn't harbour makes it infinitely worse. Aarohi is a terrible sister and her attitude is why she'll be a horrendous doctor.

Abhi said he doesn't tolerate the 'saali-adhi garwali concept' yet the way he treated Akshu during the Abrohi wedding prefers to differ. For example forcing her to come to the function, giving her the privilege of riding behind him on the bike (a privilege he reserved for his mehbooba), etc. I know why he did it and his loyalty to Akshu is outofthis world but its not fair IMO. If it was anyone other than Aarohi, I think most people would agree with me that it was mean. Likewise, the Abhira confession wasn't a scene that I enjoyed cause I found it akin to coercion. She thought he'd harm himself if she didn't confess and that's what made me uncomfortable. I understand that Abhi felt he had to resort to that since Akshu wasn't budging, but it does take the beauty out of the scene for me. I wouldn't want Abhi as a partner. In fact, his anger makes me hesitant to be his patient.

I absolutely agree with you.both abhi and aru have grey shades in them which makes these characters real and relatable.i so agree that the dynamics of these relationships and the workings of their mind can so well be topics of discussion....but each time I have tried to get into discussing them..there have been instances of generalization and one tract views which actually take away the purpose of the whole thing.....I am so ardently looking forward to have discourses about abhi vs aru...dear readers can we begin?

The criticism and appreciation becomes extreme in this forum.

In Yrkkh or it's spin offs the leads were demi gods.

The 3rd generation is perfectly imperfect. The members of discussion boards and/or audiences cannot accept out of the box personalities.

In many households there are plenty of Kartik Goenkas but at the same time you will find plenty of Abhimanyu Or Vanraj Shahs. Anuj Kapadia is only meant for TV.

That is why I connect with a Sahir Azeem Choudhary, Aditya Hooda, Dev Dixit and prefer them over Anurag Ganguly, Kartik Goenka, Naitik Singhania.

Reason is simple. I have always been around toxic individuals.

Coming back to

Abhimanyu, Akshara and Aarohi.

You will find many such items in the real world.

Viewers like Harshavardhan Birla.. No he is one of the most toxic ass**holes and pain to mankind.

Let me talk about the him. For whatever reason he is trapped in a loveless master cum servant relationship with his wife. Whether they were physically intimate is a question itself.

Such individuals are unsatisfied souls. I doubt about Abhimanyu's lineage.

HB loves his son with certain conditions. Every situation is looked upon as an opportunity. .

His son is Abhimanyu Birla, a ell in love with Akshara. That js perfect fine.

His biggest mistake was jumping from the pan into the fire. He assumed and took decisions without verifying. Neither did he speak and discuss, took certain brash decisions to please his parents. Failed to understand Akshara and Aarohi psychology.

Blackmailed Akshara for a confession, created a ruckus in front a heart patient, never really acknowledged that he too has wronged Aarohi. The apologies did not come from within.

He is obsessed and possessive too. Akshara can suffocate in this relationship. He cares two hoots for his father. Reasons are unknown. Though makes it obvious..

Aarohi is so damn similar. The only major difference is that this girl is evil, cold blooded whereas Abhimanyu does not have Vanraj type streak in him

Abhimanyu vs Aarohi.. Is happening because the former's fans have put him in a flawed category. There is scope for redemption..

Aarohi is deemed to be bad from day 1.

No comments about Akshara.

I see three characterizations in Abhimanyu.. Abhimanyu in initial episodes was very calm, composed, duty minded.. though he has severe anger issues with his father, he knows how to handle it.. After the rejection from Akshara he turned out as a freak, mentally torturing, harassing and blackmailing her, inspite of being engaged to her sister.. After her confession he turned out to be completely an obsessive lover. All he can see is only Akshara, and whoever comes in between them will not be tolerated. For me he doesn’t look like a doctor anymore, and the way he being harsh with his father and Arohi is something which is not being nice on the screen.

Sahir Azeem Choudary was also very rude and arrogant with the people around him especially with the FL, but he had a reason and strong past. And the way they showed his characterization is next level.. Aditya hooda too had anger issues but at some point he gave up zoya and surrendered himself to the destiny is very well shown. In Abhimanyu’s case Im not able to connect with the character. Something is missing. May be that marriage track with Arohi and running behind Akshara is something which didn’t work out.

For me Arohi is same since beginning.. selfish and self centered.. Arohi had problems only with Akshara, but now her main target will be Abhimanyu.. not just from yesterday episode, but right from the temple scene where she threw all her jewelry into the fire, the friction strayed. I feel the story has just begun.

Please take this opportunity to share your thoughts because I, like many others, am intrigued to hear. I would love to see people take this forward to have a discourse.

I have been mostly a silent member of this forum and these are my observations so far.

Aarohi is hated by quite a lot of people. First and foremost reason, she's Sirat's daughter, not Kaira's daughter. Secondly, she's rude, arrogant, selfish, mentally tortured Akshara since childhood.

Abhimanyu was liked initially but later when he became an obsessed lover, people started hating him.

Today, this forum is divided among two groups. Hardcore Abhimanyu haters who think he is the worst human being ever, who will never accept the fact that there are certain good qualities in him too and who will only try to find faults in him no matter what he does. This category will support anyone that goes against Abhimanyu or hurts him. When Akshara used to reject Abhi, they supported her. When she accepted Abhi's love they started disliking her because she stopped hurting Abhimanyu. Now they're supporting Aarohi because she wants to break Abhira marriage which will lead to Abhimanyu's heartbreak again. They're defending Harsh because Abhimanyu is rude with him but they're conveniently ignoring the fact that Harsh too is rude with him.

On the other side, there are Abhimanyu and Abhira fans and Aarohi haters. They agree Abhimanyu has made lot of mistakes but they're looking at his positive side too. They blame Akshara for her stupid sacrifice, Aarohi for manipulating Akshara to sacrifice her love and believe Aarohi was responsible for all the problems and her selfishness led to Abhimanyu being hyper with everyone.

There are very few people who are actually neutral and look at the characters as having both positive and negative traits. The fact is all the characters in this show are imperfect. No one is completely positive nor completely negative. Neither Abhimanyu is a completely positive character nor Aarohi a completely negative character. Both of them are flawed characters but I guess this Abhimanyu vs Aarohi debate will keep going on and frankly speaking this debate should have been more interesting but sadly, people start arguing and fighting.

Arohi is a human and has reasons for the way she behaves. There are always 2 sides to a story. These Haters should firstly see Arohis part of the story before judging her. Ps Arohi is a psycho khooni or something she is still recovering from the trauma of seeing her mother die in front of her 💔

I'm fine with people judging her, I just don't want people to use her behaviour as a tool to justify another character's toxic traits. Relative to Aarohi, Abhi is a saint xyz is what I'm not interested in because I don't think that's a fair comparison or that comparisons should be used as a tool to assess people's morality.

And if a comparison has to be made, wouldn't one between Mahima and Aarohi or Harsh and Aarohi be more appropriate? I don't understand how some people can praise Harsh and hate Aarohi when they've exhibited the same behaviours (verbal and physical violence, deception, etc.). If their argument is that Aarohi and Harsh's backgrounds and motives are different so the comparison shouldn't occur, then doesn't the same logic apply to Aarohi and Abhimanyu's comparisons.
