I agree Mauli was a sane character in ITV. Toh story Kuch aisi hain ki Mauli (FL) and Kunal (ML) are both docs and are happily married to eo. Nandini (other FL) was Mauli's childhood bff. They loved each other so much ki ek dusre ki bday mein ek dusre ka fav dish banata hain. Par rishte mein darar Aya Pyaar k chakkar k saath. So past mein I don't blame anyone as both were young. Toh Mauli humesha se kaafi studious and ambitious thi, and Nandini has been shown a great dancer. Young Nandini fell for a guy, and she made Mauli meet him. So, that guy misbehaved with Mauli or Mauli ney Nandini ko bataya ki yeh ladka uske liya thik nahi. Nandini toh full Pyaar mein nibbi thi. The friends had a dispute on this, they parted ways, and Nandini later ran away with the same guy to get married (I guess that's the past story. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone)
Coming to present, basically Kunal and Mauli somehow meet Nandini again after years. Nandini is married to that same guy, but that guy is very toxic, and Nandini is a victim of domestic violence. When Mauli gets to knows about it, she not only frees her friend from that abusive relationship by getting her a proper divorce. She allows Nandini to stay at her home, later helps her to buy a new flat, and encourages her to pursue her new career in dancing. Return mein Nandini Kya Karti hain? Usi ke pati se pyaar karke chakkar chalati hain chup chup k.
Now I'm not only belittling the girl. ML toh aur bhi ghatiya hain. ML has been shown as a man of disciplines. He left his job at a hospital, because the hospital was making doctors charge patients more by prescribing unnecessary tests. He wanted to open his own clinic and actually serve people. Toh Mauli isi beech extra work load let leti hain so that she can financially contribute and gift her husband a clinic. Tab Banda uske peet piche yeh sab kar raha hota hain.
When Nandini realizes her romantic feelings for Kunal, she decides to leave the town, but phir Kunal stops her and proposes. They even consummate their relationship. Aur inhe guilty bhi dikhaya gaya hain for doing this to Mauli. When Mauli gets to know about this that to in a very painful way, she has a heart breaking breakdown moment. Kunal k family bhi Kunal ko hi nikal Deta hai . Mauli files for a divorce, but then she finds out she is pregnant. She decides to tell Kunal, and Kunal decides to gives their relationship a chance for their kid. Nandini also let's go of Kunal for the unborn baby. Par phir Kunal ko lagta hain Mauli is faking her pregnancy, so the moment he doubts her, Mauli agrees and tells him that yes she is doing so. Kunal runs away to be with Nandini and they settle down in US. (Biggest plot twist- Mauli was actually pregnant. But when Kunal doubted her pregnancy she realized that now if Kunal has no feelings for her or for her baby. It is his moral compass that is stopping him from going to Nandini. Now, if Kunal stays with her, he will never love her kid the way her kid deserves to be loved. She/He will always be a responsibility to him and Mauli didn't want that)
Leap ke Kuch din baat writers ney jhol Kiya. But they also did an amazing thing by introducing Ishaan. Matlab Ishaan was something else. Uff Kya Banda tha. Last mein they unite Ishaan and Mauli, and Kunal stays as a friend of Mauli. Nandini dies because of cancer.
