Character analysis
Anubhav Kulshresht had life planned. A phd in science followed by a life in academia at the government institute. He wanted to be the best in his field while being a dutiful son and ideal 'beta' of his house. Anything that did not help him achieve these two goals was a waste of time. And therefore the man never really lived.
His friends were his siblings and cousins, his social circle was limited to family and a few colleagues. Outings, partying, dating were all concepts way beyond him. Something he would never get.
Growing up in this very environment (kulshresht family) made him treasure these values, it was of the utmost importance to him that these values remain instilled in his younger sister (Chhavi) as well.
So when Gungun came knocking, with a lifestyle he had neither acknowledged nor could understand. The controlled Anubhav was unable to grapple with this change. Gungun quickly with her antics became the epitome of 'a spoilt brat ' in his mind - something he hated.
It riled him up so much that he ended up yelling at the girl at her own party. But was that the only reason?
What Anubhav also felt at every turn was a bubbling attraction. No one had quite gotten under his skin like her, no one had quite challenged him like she had. And the worst of all? he enjoyed taking this challenge up.
He can speak his mind in front of her, he is blunt and childish, and oh the pleasure he derives from their banters is unparalleled!
But the more they argue the more he understands how much he enjoys it. Gungun takes everything at face value but he? he enjoys the banter at which he puts up an annoyed front.
This new feeling was unchartered territory for Anubhav. Wanting to drop his professionalism for sarcastic remarks was never him and now he did not seem to leave an opportunity to do this. The bubbling desire to banter was constant. But the acceptance of the same was hard.
In the midst of grappling with these new feelings and struggling with accepting the fact that he might be attracted (or have a crush) on Gungun. There were times where anger would be misplaced. He would fight with Gungun, not because he was egoistic but because he felt he could. He felt comfortable enough in fighting with her, but the guilt would immediately gnaw the inside of him seeing her eyes fill with tears.
What would follow that would be a series of apologies (not 1, not 2 but 4!!!)
The uncomfortable yet constant weight at the mention of her boyfriend that made him outwardly huff with exasperation was proof of the storm brewing inside him.
