Well we had three Main Gharanas as far as Kathak is concerned (there's one or two new ones now though like Raipur and all).

Lucknow is one of the oldest one I guess right along with Banaras. It is expression / Abhinay centric with subtle sensuous moves and focuses on soft movements in contrast to Jaipur (which is aggressive & gives a lot of importance to footwork) and Banaras (Bhakti Nayika oriented).

Mujra originated right here at the time of Nawabs.

Now WHY did we enter this praise wala history dynamics?!!!!
