We celebrate Diwali and Holi among the Hindu festivals (and oh God my mother celebrates the Karva Chauth fast... sorry I don't mean to offend anyone but why should women fast for men...). When I first watched YRKKH I was fascinated by all the festivals they celebrated that I'd never heard of - Gangor?

We've never celebrated Shivratri.

No. It was Parvati who stopped him. I actually don't know about Kali. Some say she is Shiva's daughter since she was made from his Jada (hairlock) and also have heard stories saying she is the angry form of Parvati, so I don't know.

We don't celebrate any of this except for Diwali and Shivratri. And Diwali is not an important festival. We just light diyas. Nothing more.

Wow, believe it or not, Diwali is a big deal - celebrated even in American schools where I grew up (it's like the Christmas equivalent of Hindu culture). Even non-Hindu neighbors where we lived would put lights😆

For Keralites, the most important festivals are Onam and Vishu.

Yeah. I get it. Diwali is huge for north Indians.

I've heard of Onam (spring festival?) but not of Vishnu (like the God?).

Not Vishnu. Vishu. From what I understand Vishu is the spring festival and Onam happens in Autumn (August-September)

Vishu is related to Lord Krishna.

And Onam is exactly opposite of what North Indians celebrate. I think in North India it is celebrated as Vamana Jayanti whereas in Onam, Vamana is sort of a villain and we celebrate the Asura King Mahabali. He is supposed to be best ruler Malayala Nadu ever had. It is also seen as a movement of subaltern resistance by some theorists now.

Hey Indira, what's happening with Ballika vadhu2? Is it really going to wrap up or continue on OTT? Been following it loosely and it's not bad. I like Anandi but sometimes it seems they're sketching her too much like Naira.. I really liked Anand till he proposed to Anandi on the same day that she finally got her child marriage annulled. That was so insensitive! And when I was just forgetting it and being drawn again by their chemistry, he's gone and proposed to Ishana just so he can ascertain Anandi's feelings for him. And all the rasams are also going on.. It reminds me of our Jija!

Anand is very different from jijaji…he’s very soft and gentle.. he and anandi knew each other from childhood,..and she was married to jigar when she was a baby…jigar was a horrible character..he abused anandi verbally and physically..but they never lived as husband and wife,,,and anand supported anandi completely to get her marriage to jigar dissolved,,..so their relationship wasn’t rushed as they knew each other for many years…but anandi was just overwhelmed and needed space to sort out her feelings ..so Anand should have waited a short while…as for Ishaana …he told Ishaana he doesn’t want to marry her ..so I don’t know why the writers made him propose..unless it was all just a plan…i missed that scene.. but I like anand as a character..he’s soft and gentle and very likeable compared to jijaji. JIJAJI IS VERY aggressive..and he puts me off…and he’s so loud.. Sadly I think the show is ending next week.. itv needs to understand that modern people don’t like outdated concepts like child marriage etc…so even though shivangi and randeep have a huge fanbase trps didn’t increase… but Zain imam also has a huge fan following but his show fanaa is also doing very badly. I think for trps they need a loyal fanbase who watches the show on tv…and maybe older viewers who watch tv…I think many younger people watch the shows online via their cell phones or iPads etc…So I think yrkkh trps may actually be from the loyal tv viewers who have been watching from season 1…and not necessarily harshad or pranalis fans 🤷🏻‍♀️

Naira had some lovely qualities..she was strong, street smart and had a mind of her own…akshara is just so boring..pranali clearly doesn’t do well in positive roles as she just looks smitten and dumb..whereas in negative roles she is really good ,.she can really be a villainous witch 😂.. yes but the writing is faulty…they become obsessed with a character and make that character dominate so much that we get sick of them…they used to be obsessed with naira…so she must get all the dialogues and be the centre of every scene to the point of us getting so sick and tired of her..and now they are doing the same with abhimanyu..he’s just too loud and bossy… he and naira poked their noses in everybody’s businesses and became so irritating 🤦🏻‍♀️ But overall..we still loved karthik and nairas romantic scenes..and they were a pleasure to watch…whereas abhira are just so boring and cringe to watch..🤷🏻‍♀️

yes I think kali is an avataar of Parvati..Parvati has many avatars I think …kali, Durga, and many others.. I’m from Africa..we celebrate Diwali and other Hindu festivals..like Mahashivratri, Krishna Jayanti, hanuman jayanti, the New Years etc. but we don’t celebrate karva chauth..I don’t think we’ve ever did here where I live 🤔
