He is using Luhansk and Donetsk as pretext for the invasion. However, his real fear is that the Ukraine might join the NATO. He thinks that US and it's NATO allies are planning to encircle him.

It's a win win for Putin and Xi. He's baiting US and its EU allies.

If US doesn't get involved militarily, Russia+China show the world that they have successfully undermined them and they are no more the world leaders (the Afghanistan collapse last year already contributed to it).

Sanctions will do nothing but lead to China capturing the space which EU/US leave in the Russian economic market. Again, just takes China to the top, EU's economy is weakening anyways. This might not bode well for them.

Crisis like these are opportunities for folks like Putin and Xi. They are showing the world that when push comes to shove, UN and US won't do much to help its allies unlike Russia or China. This gives boost to lead other such operations like Taiwan, HK etc.

Otoh, if US and its allies do get involved militarily, Putin probably won't refrain from using WMD. Not sure what's going to happen then (apart from destruction that is).

Biden won't interfere. he's already made that clear that the USA will not send troops since Ukraine is 'not a NATO ally'. Like, yeah, sure, that's the reason you're not sending in troops. 🤓

However, I'm hoping against hope that the NATO does something apart from releasing statements like pussays. Putin may be a megalomaniac but he isn't stupid; he won't use nuclear weapons against the US.

Biden is a joke. His ego is hurt, still he can't do much without going extreme. Abhi toh troops nikale hain Afghanistan se, how's he going to explain sending troops in a foreign land again.

Germany isn't going to get involved militarily anyways. Rest of the EU is already hesitant about imposing strict economic sanctions coz they don't want to cede the market to China.

They'll at max show support via speeches, selling weapons to Ukraine, articles etc. Till then Putin will anyways capture whatever he wants to.

Then 6-8 months later they'll back to business.

The only one at loss currently is the Ukrainian civilians. Just hope they don't end up like Afghans (no offence to them BTW).

If something contrary happens, I'll actually be surprised. But all bets seem to be favouring China.

I'm guessing next is Taiwan. Tough times ahead.

True. This is basically a repeat of 2014 when it captured Crimea. Now it's Donetsk and Luhansk.

Taiwan won't be so easy. The logistics won't favour China, plus it'll get support from the other South-East Asian nations.

Hope so. China needs atleast one loss so that it takes a step back as well as other nations get an opportunity to stand up to them.

West is never going to be of any help in actual sense.

It will be an alliance of countries in Asia versus each other next.

How I hope that the Ukraine was a NATO member. 😒 The USA would've sent troops by now. I can't believe I'm saying this, but George W Bush for all his war crimes, actually tried to get Ukraine in NATO, which was probably one of the very few good things he did.

Agar Ukraine already NATO mein hota to aj Putin ki itna himmat na hoti.
