you know when damon fed elena his blood in s2 he said "come on promise me an eternity of misery trust me you will get over it" and when elijah told him "she will never forgive you and eternity is a long time" after that damon went so he could delay the ritual which shows his feelings towards stefan as well he hasnt been able to forgive stefan for taking away his choice he even told stefan in s1 he was not allowed to feel his guiltOriginally posted by: Monstuholic
yes, but it should have happened long back. Damon should have said that he had forgiven him all those years ago (make up some incidence), but didnt really say it, so now he is confessing that he had forgiven him and that didnt owe him anything
but this was his subconscious he told stefan that he has no resentment against him anymore all this time he has loved him and he wants to officially free stefan of the guilt these were basically his internal feelings which he had never said out loud
because even in s3 damon had asked stefan why did he keep saving him " was it brotherly love or his guilt' he knows stefan better than anyone and he knows his guilt but like i said it was his subconscious he himself didnt realise he blamed stefan too consciously he didnt thats why asking him not to feel guilt
though i agree he should have did it earlier but damon isnt the type to talk about his emotions openly he doesnt get vulnerable and in 1994 he did try to reach out to stefan he said he needed him but stefan rejected him and shamed his lifestyle while he forced him to complete the transition that was a dick move and one of the few times i hated stefan the things he said to damon were heartbreaking and damon just couldnt take it anymore if his hate against stefan was that strong he wouldnt have tried to reach out but stefans words were the ultimate breaking point for him and deepened his hatred and resentment which finally caused him to lash out and commit the worst crime
