My dad was the middle child. His older sister was favoured to the max, his younger bro to the max, and he was just... there. The only one of them who was raised more by his grandparents (this was right after the rubber estate times in Malaysia).

And he's the most disciplined and strict one out of all of them.

And... i see the exact same shit happening with my younger sis. She's soo... well, exactly like you described your dad lol.

So yeah, general statements sometimes hold 110% truth.

Ohh my dad was just never there... He's acting like an adult when he's a child. Dad's family belongs to rural UP, they're really poor too... And well older one was very irresponsible, goonish, so dad was the one who had to do everything. Be the responsible one.

The saddest part is, my grandmother actually favored my uncles way more, despite the fact that dad did everything for everyone, was better at academics than everyone else, made incredible sacrifices for entire family. It just breaks my heart. Dad's kinda strict but also very soft in a way... Like he's very much in touch with his emotions, but he knows how to control them very well. He loves too much, to a fault honestly.
