MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings are doing their thing yet again. Known to deal with auctions and the tournament itself in their own way, CSK have bought 10 players on Day 1 and have Rs 20.45 crore left to spend tomorrow.

Interestingly, they did not buy a single player from the 'marquee' list of 10 players that started the auction.

They came into the auction with a purse of Rs 48 crore after retaining four players - Ravindra Jadeja (INR 16 crore), MS Dhoni (INR 12 crore), Moeen Ali (INR 8 crore) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 6 crore).

All franchises have been allowed an auction spending cap of Rs 90 crore by the IPL Governing Council. There is also a Rs 67.5 crore minimum spending limit.

A full IPL squad can have a maximum of 25 players and a minimum of 18.

What happens to unsold players in the IPL auction?

The unsold players are free to play matches elsewhere. However, franchises remain in touch of the unsold players they are interested in so that they can rope them in if they need a replacement player.

Also, some unsold players join the IPL franchises as net bowlers to help them with their training.

The thing is every year teams come up with their best players but the management too plays a vital role in the performance of these players...

The way CSK picked most of their old players back,they are definitely not thinking about distant future but again, everytime, they have their own way of managing and planning out things❤️...
