What are your expectations from Gehraiyaan(2022) to be released on 11'th Feb on Amazon Prime??

From what I have seen from the songs, my expectations are sky-high. The aesthetics of the films seem to be in the vein of Shakun Batra's second film 'Kapoor and Sons' -- intense, edgy, noirish elements.

Also, I like the way intimacy has been portrayed in the songs, there's an element of beauty and stillness, it goes beyond mere physical attraction.

Do you think it will resonate with audiences?

Your take, please.

I expect my ears will be bleeding if the trailer was any indication on how bad the dialogue delivery will be. But I’ve got things sorted. My ears shall be protected.

I think cinematographically, it will be really good but it will sink in its own 'depths' without a trace

I just get a very unapproachable vibe from this movie, possibly because of the in-your-face, unapologetic approach to infidelity and EMA which I find uncomfortable. And the defensive comments from the director and the cast over the last couple of weeks have not helped.

Regarding Kapoor and Sons, it was a much more relatable story because of the family connect. It definitely was intense, and possibly borderline edgy. But I must have totally missed out on the noir elements, because I do not recall any such thing in that movie

My bad. It's not there in that movie.

I think the songs and aesthetics are definitely good (though even they have a very strong depressing vibe which may put off some people), and all the actors seem to have given it their all in terms of their performances (Deepika was very good, Siddhant was good, the other guy was good and even Annie seemed alright 😆).

But the storyline is such that I can't see the masses empathising with DP's character easily...

Like we already know that she is going to cheat on her partner with a richer, younger guy who also happens to be her cousin's fiance, and Muslim 😆.

The bolded part I think is going to get it trending for all the wrong reasons😆

I'm expecting one of the best films of the year. Shakun's last outing was outstanding.

I understand people are scandalized by the subject. But I would estimate that a majority of all human adults have either been in an extra-marital affair, or the victim of one, or know of someone very close to them who has. The trailer shows the involved parties expressing turmoil and anguish, so I don't see the "unapologetic approach" some have mentioned either.
