Mousy just watched. Enjoyed it.

She sounds so humble and simple!

Itne bade bade artists ne unki tareef ki. Aur ekdum deserving tareef.

Ye Classic Legends ki episode hai, Javed Akhtar dwara prastoot kiya hua. Maine bohot pehle dekhi thi, par phirse enjoy kiya

Sticking to my before 60s rule is proving to be mighty difficult! I love 'Vande Mataram' from Anand Math but since I've already posted that, I want to post different songs. Also, 'Kuch dil ne kaha' will always make it to my personal top Lata songs list, but again I've posted that a few times, so will avoid it this time.

Jadugar Sainyan - Nagin (1954)

Beqas ki aabroo ko - Ek hi rasta (1956)

All are musical melodies, and truly a visual treat. ❤️

She used to infuse feel in to every word with her swift flowing voice.

Trying to post video

With subtle expressions, the actors, and with a fine-tuned romantic feel the singer made this song a re-watchable one.

From the same film ...

Another melodious song --

Again I love the songs from Aarti, Taj Mahal and Chitralekha but I'm trying to keep this list to 40s and 50s!

Garjat barsat bhijat ailo - Malhar (1951)

Later the same tune was used in a later movie Barsaat ki Raat.

For me, this song will always hold a special place in my heart.

I enjoy listening to this music at dusk... While the delicate mist of the night falls, the windows and stars are illuminated, one by one, as they slide into their positions. The leaves were almost silently talking. Everything around them was motionless and gloomy, with a stinging pain (yep, stinging pain!).It was that time when, in the presence of that evening breeze flapping the curtain, like her optimism, the not-yet-darkened surroundings seemed unimaginably vast—a moment when anything can happen, and everything is believed in.

All of these emotions are reflected on the actress's slightly bent face, through her lowered eyes, and that voice... it simply transports you to heaven and back.

Such wonderful write ups remembering Lata didi smiley27

A voice that doesn't deviate a bit from perfection even in the highest pitch. One aspect of Lata's voice that I have always found fascinating!

All songs from the movie Umbartha are absolutely beautiful.

Lata sang one song for Smita Patil in another Marathi movie Jait re Jait, based on a tribal story.

I haven't heard her songs in any other languages than Hindi and Marathi, would like to search and listen to them.

Can't resist sharing this, it was being played on almost every Marathi news channel yesterday. Akhercha ha tula dandavat, roughly translates to, accept my last greetings as I leave! 😢
