Taking care of your younger sibling and playing matchmaker for your father is not the same .

getting together just because an 8 year old child told you so is not healthy .

If you think Tina is selfish so be it.

Tina didn’t expect her remain single, she knew she may because of the deep feelings she had for rahul. After so many years, it was clear that she never really did.

I have seen a real life case where my mom lived in the same building since childhood. There was a girl who had relationship/ feelings for the guy since childhood and she never married even though the guy did. 12 years later, his wife passed away of cancer and couple of years later the same girl married him. These things do happen no matter how far fetched they sound.

I don’t think Rahul is the only reason Tina wanted Anjali back in their lives. She knew, knowing Anjali’s sacrificing nature, she let go of her only love for his happiness. No one could love her daughter the way Anjali would have. It’s also a big thing to think about the happiness of your spouse an kid when you are dying. One has to have a big heart (keeping the logic part aside).

Also, all parents have expectations from their children from the career they seek, the behaviour they expect to the person they marry, the task Tina gave her daughter is far simpler one.

How is it simple? Looking for your dad's decades-old friend and then setting him up with your dad--- which part of it is even comprehensible to a young child, let alone 'simple'?

An 8-year-old child cannot comprehend the concept of love and relationships between adults. That's just not their league. Neither do they deserve to be shouldered with a huge burden.

But I have seen these things happen.

It’s not as incomprehensible as you think they are. Maybe not set up but encourage mothers to date.

Especially I have seen early teen girls set up online dating accounts for parents.

Maybe the letter writing and detailed story is funny. But nothing beyond that.

Also, all she had to do was bring them face to face after years. It’s not a hard job.

I also remember seeing plenty of HW Movies at the time where kids bring divorced parents together or any other gf. (I remember one with Olsen twins and one with Lindsay Lohan)

2001 Bollywood there was a movie called Rahul..

If you remember Son Pari - it again had a similar theme. Frooti didn’t like her father’s gf who was a gold digger. Son pari was like a mother to her.. and when she retains a human form she is paired with her father.

Its definitely not a whole new concept. The only new thing Kjo really brought was Tina leaving letters.

I love Maang Bharo's vlog. It's absolutely hilarious cuz he roasts those movies with humor .... the kind that has people literally on the floor wheezing with laughter.

But I'm here to complain about people who keep digging up old movies to trash them just cuz they don't connect with today's audience. So let me say it. Whoever spends all their time combing through old movies of their least favorite actors to identify stuff that by today’s standards looks troubling/bad, just to shit on it and get others to do the same, to look all woke and whatnot online, is a proper douchebag. Man, does it feel good to say that, this pet peeve has been irritating me for a while now.

Every ten years, when you look back at movies that have lost their cultural relevance, you're gonna wonder what the heck the creative teams were thinking! Very few movies/songs/books are timeless. Most of the stuff in showbiz is about riding the hype of whatever's hot in the market.

As responsible (debatable in some cases) adults, we are savvy enough to separate what we like about old movies from what we don't. If you can't differentiate the past from the present or reality from fiction where extra liberties are allowed, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is the least of your problems!

As a teenager when KKHH came out, I loved it. The era was such. Cheesy romances were in vogue. And as a teenager, you don't always think deeply. Even today, I still enjoy the movie. It is fun entertainment and has an enjoyable soundtrack.

But as an adult, I got to admit, the movie hasn't aged well. All movies have plotholes or inconsistencies. But KKHH takes it a bit far.

I mean it is absurd to leave town just because the guy you liked doesn't like you back. Dude, you're just in college. You have a whole life ahead of you. There are still plenty of heartbreaks left to have and give.

It is absurd to think that someone is going to be single for eight whole years. It is absurd to think that an eight-year-old child is going to be able to track down a person in India which is a pretty densely populated country with thousands of Anjali Sharma's.

Some of the subtle messaging is also problematic. I think Rahul's notion of what makes a woman marriageable is problematic. People change and Anjali probably changed on her own over time, but the fact that Rahul was interested in Anjali only after she dressed traditionally femme is problematic.

And let's be practical. Eight years is a long time. Rahul and Anjali probably both changed a lot during that time period. They have reunited for just two weeks and don't know each other beyond a summer camp. You can get infatuated or have a heavy crush in two weeks, but you're not going to fall in love.

I found this video to be funny. I mean even if you love the movie some of the stuff like the kids in the background and all the clocks in the room is amusing.

I'm cool with KKHH being ripped because even in its heyday it was a movie I enjoyed but never loved. DDLJ and KHNH are far more meaningful to me. And I feel they are more defensible in their flaws.
