See, I honestly think everyone can see both if the perception is changed. Like if I imagine the light is falling from behind, I see white and gold now. And if I imagine the light is directed towards the dress from the front, I see blue and black. It's like those pictures we see that looks like a face or a piece of writing at the same time.

Trust me - you're rare! I've tried looking through a pin hole, shutting one eye etc and nope always black and blue... You've got fluid color constancy (which sounds like an oxymoron but apparently isn't😆)

That's the thing, it's not really in how you look. It's in how you think. In the beginning it was confusing to me because I saw the dress in the shade but there was also a bit of light falling on the dress. But now.i can kind of separate the two. So if I am focusing or imagining the light is coming from behind the dress, it's white and gold. And instead if I focus on especially the top black part of the dress and imagine a bit of shimmer due to the light falling on it, I see black and blue. Because in the same view, I keep switching between the two.
PS: But yeah, perception is everything. So I think we can just keep giving our opinions on the show and not be stubborn everyone should agree with us and have more healthy debates.

Right you are. I put it badly, the idea is to trick your brain into thinking the picture is in outdoor light. You're probably great at picking out those stereopticon pictures. Cant see those for love or money either. I guess I'm just hardwired into a very narrow outlook 🤣

Oh, yes. I love looking at pictures like that. It used to give me a kick. 😆
Resurrecting this post - because how a person sees the color of the dress in this PHOTO is exactly the same neural process by which they process subjective information like characters on a tv show. Based on their own hardwired contexts.
That’s why we all have these wildly differing opinions about Abhimanyu, Akshara, Arohi or whoever. It’s all good - none of it is real, nobody is right or wrong here and everyone is making an interpretation that’s valid for their lived experience.
Go ahead and take the poll if you haven’t - the explanation is on pg5.
Amazing muje white gold dikhi im a morning person ...i show it to my husband he said black blue nd he is like a OWL...🤣...ab yeh question i asked in my family grp too 😆...really amazing
Exactly - it’s his context vs. yours when it comes to this picture.
Quoting what I wrote elsewhere - most of us feel what we feel about these characters and belaboring arguments won’t really change our perspective because there is no grounding reality to any of these characters except what we’ve been shown so far and how each of us has processed it.
Only future facts like how the storyline might evolve can change the contexts in our individual minds of how we view these characters. It’s really the same as arguing why some people see the dress one color, some another color, some both colors and some an entirely different set of colors. They see what they see.
