an Article by Miss.M
For staying together and celebrating with yaadon ki baarat despite facing numerous kaands. This family needs no introduction as they are a familiar sight on the streets of Somnath, however, for those that are not aware, we introduce the family members to familiarise you with them.
The family's matriarch Suman Pandya(centre) has always believed that being a strict, orthodox mother-in-law and doting mother is the secret to a happy family. She gets help from her eldest daughter-in-law Dhara Pandya (top centre) who is lovingly called Bhagodi ki Beti, the ultimate idol for self-sacrifice, and her eldest son Gautam Pandha (top right from centre) whom she refers to as petticoat chaap No.1. Both have helped in raising her other three sons Dev (Bottom far right) also called petticoat chaap no. 2, Shiva (Second from right) better known as petticoat chaap no. 3 and Krish (Top far right) also sometimes called Krishu. After many mishaps and difficulties, Dhara and Gautam finally gave birth to a cute baby girl (not shown) whom they have called Tara.
Dev and Shiva have also had a tumultuous time in their married lives, starting with their wedding but it seems as though their lucky stars were shining on them. Dev got married to his long-time secret girlfriend Rishita (to Dhara's left), instead of Raavi (far left) who had a crush on him since they were teenagers. She is now married to Shiva who was her childhood enemy. Fear not, their love story turned out to be fine and they can be seen fighting with different masalas and attas in the new Pandya Superstore. To make them feel part of the family, Suman calls Rishita pattrani giving ode to the rich lifestyle that she has come from, whilst Raavi gets the more humorous name of markundi gaay.
The family history is one that will be remembered for years to come in the streets of Somnath. Previously, Raavi’s cousin Anita was supposed to marry Gautam, but at the last moment, she decided to leave him at the altar on finding out that they were in financial problems. Hardik (Dhara’s brother) decided that his best friend would get married to his sister and their love story took off from there. Rumors are there is something brewing between Hardik and Anita, but we have received no confirmation from either party about this.
Rishita had to fight for her love when she came to marry Dev, running away from her wedding dais; a wedding that her MLA Aunt had arranged with an acquaintance's son however, true love prevailed, and now is married to the love of her life. Since that day, Rishita has been adjusting to the Pandya family, standing up as the feminist that she is while maintaining a balance between her maternal home and her in sasuraal. She has also helped the family out of various situations, always arriving in the nick of time.
Due to the severe action of Raavi on her wedding day, both families decided that it would be better if she got married to Shiva. Despite the shock that she had received, she agreed for the sake of her family and because she knew that Shiva had a heart of gold. However, both have been seen fighting and challenging each other on the streets of Somnath on various occasions, but despite all that you will find Shiva there to protect Raavi.
Krish is still single and ready to mingle, flirting his way through girls in Somnath, however, currently, his thoughts are consumed by a certain Miss. Dwivedi. Here is wishing him good luck in that brave endeavor and that both families are supportive if they move to a more serious relationship.
The family has also opened up a new superstore that includes a clothing department with the latest trends. Do check out the centerfold for offers available in-store and shortly online on the new website. Over the next few weeks, we will be meeting all the members of the family to conduct individual interviews. Comment with your wishes for the family and any questions you wish answered from the winners of this year's parivaar award.
