Comparison factor is not going to end, it will remain there, still I feel it totally depends on how show makers execute the track, present it before audience. There are people who want to see something different, but they don't have many options.
If they show both ML and FL loving each other in the same way, even after how bad or wrong way they behaved with each other, where the 3rd angle has no chances of winning even being good, then why people want to see the 3rd angle suffering because of that 2 lovers who are madly in love, don't viewers think it's better that 3rd angle goes away because he/she deserves better than the FL/ML lead?
In such scenario, it becomes more difficult because the audience gets attached to the 3rd angle, he gets all the sympathy, that inspite of being such positive, nice soul his love remains unrequited. The overall viewership of the show suffers, writers ko gaaliyan padhti hai. They start demanding a new, better lead for 3rd angle.
Many quit the show because they feel inko healthy relationships nahi dikhane hai, typical hi rehna hai. ML FL ladthe rahenge, they are toxic for each other, they can have better lives with other partners but nahi inko yeh toxic, unhealthy, misunderstandings wala love hi dikhana hai.
KZK1 mein bhi Vineet tha, Pre's boss, hot, handsome, successful, always supported Pre, had feelings for her too, but EK played smart & cut-off his role before he could become audience fav. Guest appearance type ho toh chal jata hai, else it becomes difficult to handle later on.
