I've had the honour and privilege to attend a workshop by Pt. Birju Maharaj years ago and it was once in a life time kinda moment. The way he taught us, the simplicity, perfection, the kindness in his voice! He asked a question and I answered it and he patted my head, saying you're a good dancer and you have great potential. đ Feels like a personal loss.
I have the certificate with his signatuređ
I couldn't believe when I saw the news this morning. đ
Such an honour!! I am so glad and happy for you.
Even though I am from his hometown I've never had the privilege to see him in person and it will forever remain in my heart as a regret.
It is indeed a terrible loss.
I still remember the days when all we had (in my learning days) was Doordarshan to get acquainted with Maharaj Ji and his disciples' performances and techniques. We used to sit for hours in front of an old TV, 40 people together and make notes/discuss about what more we can add to our art and wonder did he showcase again.
All comfort, dedication and pure respect towards our art and our gurus. â¤ď¸
PS : I'm a Kathak dancer too Neha! Didn't know you were too. How many years have you trained? đ¤
