Like we were discussing yesterday, the literal intoxicant ( and not the metaphorical codependency she has on Aditya) brought out her dormant feelings for Aryan. It brought out her attraction for Aru, her need/desire for him to care for her. She held his hand and asked him to pet her. I have gotten drunk a few times and have never asked any random person to physically take care of me. I have asked people to feed me because I expected them to care for me. She's also someone who's struggling with the whole-saat-janmon-ke-saiyan-bane-bhaiya thing. Aditya takes too much of space in her head and her conscious mind justifies it in the name of pyaar like Meera and maa ki chinta or whatever. So this was probably the first time her subconscious actively, dominantly took over her mind. When the literal stupor broke, she got shocked out of her wits and used her BS Jaap as a shield.

Aru definitely wants all her attention for himself. I think they time-lapsed it because Aru held her in his arms for a while.

It's so cute that Aryan always finds his way to her at her most vulnerable moments, to guard her. His reaction to her being drunk, pulling her in all like "do you know understand what could have happened?". Her being such a clueless kitten makes it better and also just drives the point home right. I think it's moments like that that will give Aryan the right perspective on her feelings for Aditya and for himself.

Aryan is literally Imlie’s safety blanket. She must have such implicit trust in him…and must feel such emotional security with him … that it translates to seeking physical comfort when you are inebriated / tired.

Other than her mother and perhaps dadda (when he was at home, and this was infrequent coz he was mostly away in jungles / fighting the system), she hasn’t sought out to be comforted and cared for by anyone else. To all Tripathi’s (ex-husband included), the equation was always a giving one, never a seeking one.

To me this scene is therefore piognant. Her conscious mind may harp about BS nonstop but deep-down…she feels the same freedom and comfort with Aryan as she does with her mom / dadda. And THAT’s a mind-blowingly positive thing that drowns out all noise. :-)
