So true about the camera being a male gaze. It sucks that it has to happen like that. Even though the first scene you posted is so beautiful, it objectifies as you said. And that objectification also works against what they're trying to show, which is intimacy and attraction. Why not have two people appreciate each other instead? It was such a great scene though. The way their emotions played out, it was brilliant.
Men do have the freedom to gaze. I know I keep going on an on about the bar scene, but the way Aryan openly just looked at Imlie and kept on looking even when she starting to feel awkward and looked away, like wow. That's male privilege there for sure lol. It was wonderfully done by the actors though.
I'm hoping that the same happens for Imlie as it did in the other you mentioned. I feel like it's very likely as well. Even if you pay attention to her dance performances only. They're getting more and more s*xy. Like a woman coming in to her own in that way.
